Beautiful Oval Window! I can't see too clearly, so what is the gauge to the left of the Speedo? I don't think fuel gauges were standard back then, and the needle looks too small anyway. Are those original semiphores? I'm sure those taillights and headlight lenses are worth a small mint. Nice car.

Zietgeist, The gauge is a MotoMeter combo gauge. It is a fuel level and oil temperature. I worked at a Volkswagen dealer in the parts dept in 1970. Lets just say that it was part of my severance package . The semiphores are origional but I went through them and rebuilt them with NOS lenses. The Heart tail lights were origional on the car also as the car was origionally delivered to HOLLAND. I finished restoration on the Bug 16 years ago

I don't leave the car un-attended in dark alleys.

The bug is amazing. I didn't notice the semiphores untill about halfway through our drive and had no idea what it was. When he showed them when we stopped I thought it was so cool. I think it is the nicest Bug I've seen and it could move. Funny when it skid out a little in the 1-2 shift on highway 1.

We have all those and more over on Benzworld:
http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w123-e-ce-d-cd-td/1258761-planning-next-california-gtg-14.html

We ought to have a few more up in the next few days. I would have like to have taken more driving shots, but only had one chance and most came out pretty crummy. Maybe next time we will have that complimented by some nice video footage.
