Sacramento GTG???

I've been seeing a few others on the forum from Sacramento. I'd really be interested in getting together and meeting each other in person and getting to see each others cars. I know there aren’t a lot of us in Sac, but it would still be cool to meet the hand full of you guy who live around me. If there is anyone else interested, or anyone has any ideas, it would be cool to plan a meet, maybe just pick a date and meet at a restaurant or something like that.

I'm in / Sticky?

I'm up for it.
Can we get a sticky for a week or so for this thread? (Ed: Gee that was quick, and thanks)
I was thinking maybe at a park would be cool too, somewhere with a bit of space to pop the hoods and such?
I'm in the NE side of the county so my vote is something like Fair Oaks or such, but anywhere is really OK.

I'm down. Located in Cupertino, CA but willing to drive.

Also I should have some information about the statewide GTG here pretty soon. It will be in Pismo/Morro Bay probably late october/mid november.

How about a BBQ in the Sacramento area followed by a drive? Are there any fun, windy roads up there? I'm busy sunday afternoons so whatever you guys decide and I'll let you know if I can come with my 83 300d turbo.

I'd like to hear more about this!!

(Nate told me on this forum about a VCOA Volvo GTG in DAVIS and I attended that, even though I don't drive a Volvo any more)

The trick is to find a time that works for everyone

Dates

I have my birthday coming up so there are a few weekends that i'll be unavalable. my birthday is on October 15th so the weekend of the 14-15th is out, and the next weekend won't work because i have to go to oregon to see my mom for my birthday. but anyother weekend works for me.

I have been to the Mopar in the Park show at Hagan Park... that was a good place for a car show. but it was very big.

I'm not sure where we should meet, but i live on Garfeild and work in Folsom. so i'm always driving... i'm up for just about anywhere.

So maybe we should consider it the greater norcal GTG?
I see no reason why if someone wants to drive out they shouldn't come

As to the windy roads part, I'll have to take a pass on that for now. The front end on my car is where the most love is still needed

Alright, so a Norther California GTG?

I am also busy the 14th/15th and any time after that I think I am good. I don't know how much people are going to want to drive to attend, so lets make sure we pick a fairly central location. Somewhere like Fairfield or Vacaville could work because that is less than an hour from Sacramento and about the same from the Bay Area. Or if the majority of attendies is from Sacramento that is also fine, same as Davis. Again, a location that is most accessible is best.

Will this be an all MB meet or more of a diesel thing? In anycase I'm sure anyone who wants to come can but if we want a larger showing maybe something should be posted in the tech section. Also when there is a date I'll post it up on the Benzworld w123 forum, we have a few members in the area.

My only concern is that I don't quite yet trust my car for such a drive
The Ball joints pop when you turn and the control arms are worn as heck. I only currently drive it <55Mph and only within a 10 mile circle I know well...

I'm up for anything. Fairfield, Vacaville or Davis, all sounds fine to me. I lived in Davis for a while, they have a good size park down town, but I don't know how crowded it will be now that the university is back in session.

networkboy,
If your car isn't up for the journey that doesn't mean you shouldn't come. You should come and see the other cars... I'm currently restoring a Dodge Charger, and I go to all the Mopar get together I can... seeing other cars normally sparks my fire to work for a while longer. Plus, I’ve been in the same boat as you, with all my ball joins carping out at once. I ended up changing everything out in one day... that was a long day.

I'm taking a two month holiday from work this winter. New years in Costa Rica followed by a solid month of wrenching. I'll either love or hate that car by the time I'm done.

To do:
  • Front end (control arms, ball joints, suspension check, etc.)
  • Motor, tranny mounts
  • Driveshaft mount
  • Rear axle off and rebuild
  • All fuel delivery from filter back through tank replaced and/or cleaned
  • Plumb up veggie oil lines underneath car and install mini-tank in engine compartment.
  • inspect/replace rubber brake components
  • install under-hood CO2 system (4x9Oz tanks or some such)
  • Install in-dash Boost / Voltage / 5 point temp cluster (mini-tank, coolant. oil, turbo, exhaust), likely in the cig lighter with a rolling digital readout.
How's that for fun.

My right front balljoint began popping so I may not be bringing the turbo if it isn't fixed by then. If not I'll have the 81 300d euro which is even cooler. Lets get some dates set out. Saturdays are best for me and again not the 14th.
