Pics from the Atlanta Mercedes Get-together

Well for all those that attended the Atlanta Get-Together at Matt Cama's shop in Lilburn, it was great meeting you! It started at 1pm and the darkness forced us to say out good byes.

I had a really good time meeting other MB heads and looking at all the rides. US and Euro models were present as well as diesel and gas powerplants.

Take a look at the pics and enjoy!

Ridining in the Unimog was very fun!:D

Look fun (but cold), a ton of euros there it appears.

I'd love to ride in a Unimog. I bet it was a snail :)

Man, I just missed it! I'm going to be in Atlanta from the 17th to the 22nd.

(PS. I'm in Birmingham just about every week now. Is there a GTG going on down there anytime?)

Then we should do better than an open parking lot.

Sorry I missed it... It looks like there was a really good turnout. And yes, I have a 126....LOL....

Look forward to meeting more people from the Atlanta area....

Isn't there a W126 SEC in the background of one of the photos? (shot of 280SLC) Might be a W124 I guess.
What are the hydraulic looking lines on the Unimog steering column?
And dig that heavenly green W116!!

Never knew GA was the gateway to Europe......;)

greasybenz 12-10-2006 02:47 AM

that biodiesel pic...yuck! thats why you ask for the latest ASTM test results or test it at home with a PHlip test.

But other then that looks like a nice gtg, i like the unimog.

Those 108's are incredibly solid cars, kingpin suspension with zero roll and sway. It's like driving a vehicle carved from one solid piece of iron, rides like it's on rails. Great tragedy that MB did not develop the 5cyl diesel in time for w108 sedans.

Attrition rate on 108's is now practically nil. Large population of em on the Vintage Forum used as daily drivers. They are widely acclaimed as last of the hand built MB's with massive upholstery and old world accoutrements.

Nice spread of cars, looks like a good time was had. Looks like Georgia has a real high interest in these cars. I wish I could have been there.

dammm I missed this. Would have loved to have gone, but then again my diesel just got up and running again last night around midnight. Veg installed!

and now i must have one... its like the big ole cruisers of the day.. i say my W123 is a tank.. but the 108 is a frign battleship!

the one in the pic has got to be a 109 though... its lowered and the air suspension allows for that.. my friend has a bare metal 109 and its the sex

Yes it was a little cold but the sunshine and no wind was a plus. Everybody just kept chatting untill the sun decided to depart and then it got real cold.

I hope there is double the crowd next year!
