A little late, but hopefully not too late.

I haven't been particulary active on the site in quite a while (too many other interests), but I'd like to hit the GTG.

Since I just bought a "new" 23 yr old 300TD, I'll soon be parting with (maybe parting out) my "old" 22 yr old 300TD. She has been a great driver (166 K on the clock), but its just another new england rust bucket. If you need any '85 300TD parts, let me know.

See you all then.

P.S. Ben,

I just sent $2.00 to your paypal account.

Exclamation you send it, Ill book it- Thursday 4/3 cut off

I have recieved $$$ from 2 people today. If there is anybody else who would like to contribute, please do so in a timely fashion.

What I have for $$ so far isn't enough for me to meet the balance.
I will end up refusing all PayPal payments if I cant get 50% of the 67.00 by Thursday. (I have so far, a total of $12.00, or 18% of the site payment)
Isn't that fair guys?
if it rains and people are bummed that the GTG got cancelled cuz we got no Pavillion, dont . OK?

*As stated, a college student has other obligations besides a pavillion at a mountain in June- like food, beer and g*$#mn gas.
Cheers!

The pavillion is a good idea, are they locked can't we just you know kind of pull up and take one over? Is their a parking lot with like some charcol grills around it?

I don't know if a pavillion is really worth it, since 8-10 people usualy show at best.

I know tell me about it. If I wasn't having serious cash issues I'd cover it myself as well. But for the next 3-5 months I'm tapped out, so frivolous spending isn't happening.

Someone please buy my SD I need the cash!!!

Post get it or not?

The pavilion is like 40x40 or bigger. Holds 40-50 people.

My thought is, if people are bringing parts to sell, it may be nice to have.

Also it is good if we want rain or shine.

Mt. Tom has picnic sites with brick grill areas, smaller, and parking may be scattered so we may not all be able to park together.

Pavilion comes with field parking so there is no issue.

I will try to get a pic. but since I have finals it is tough at best to get over there.

I have contacted several area vendors to see if they are intersted in "sponsoring" our GTG for free exposure.

I am planning to call GreaseCar in Easthampton tomorrow to see if they are intersted in setting up a booth if they "sponsor" us. (we are kind of their market)

I was going to try to get a MB Specialist to come and give a talk about something....

I was going to call the local Stealership to see if they wanted to bring up a new MB for us to test drive...wheee! and give us free stuff for being MB owners

I was also thinking that a raffle would be cool to do. But i dont know what to raffle off, and for what..charity? (thats always nice)

So, having a Pavillion would be nice for that stuff.
Any ideas? lets hear em! this should be a really fun time and I knw there are a bunch of people amped about this.

Question Side Trip to John Allen Mercedes- Interested?

So, today I saw my mechanic, John Allen, who only works on early model and vintage Mercedes (I saw my first 1964 230SL convertible and Euro today, and am in fr**king in love with that car.) He also had a customer's Euro 240 E? (straight 6) that was out of this world immaculate, and FOR SALE!!! It was the yellowish color with tan cloth interior, NO RUST, NO SWIRLS, round Euro headlights, trunk triangle, and all the Euro goodies without the emmissions crap. It looks new-that I am in love with as well! I wish I had the money for it. I want it soooo badly!!

Anyway, I floated the idea of him talking to the group about some technical topics of interest. At first, he seemed a little luke-warm, but he then floated back the idea of a side trip to his shop for some technical discussion, possibly putting a car or two on the lift and such activities.

Personally, I would take this opportunity to talk to a true expert who lives and breathes our cars. It would be a great opportunity for those of us who really dont know much to gain some practical knowlege and possibly hands on experience.

His shop is located approximately 30 minutes North of where Mt. Tom is.

He suggested that a list of topics be generated by the group in advance so that when we arrived he could be prepared to answer the questions posed.
He prefered earlier in the day rather than later, so I told him that I would pose the option to the group and get back to him ASAP.

What do you guys think?

ne-gtg

I am planning to be there, I will bring tach&time and timing light to show others how to check timing on our diesels, there was much discussion on this forum with Sam Ross leading the way. I showed others at the nj gtg in October of 2005 and alot of people where interested. I will also bring some homebrew for those of you that are interested in good quality brew. I'm planning on bringing the girl friends mint 2.5 turbo, and of course she going to tag along.

Peter
