North Texas GTG, May 12th 2007

Diesel heads, We're thinking May 12th for the NTX Meat at Coyote Ridge Ranch.

BBQ

Music

Camping

Parts cars to pick over

Wine tasting

and,
Maybe an outdoor drive in movie setup. I'm still working on this idea. Any good movie suggestions?

Bring a lawn chair, your beverage of choice, a covered dish or chips and your parts to swap...

Wear comfortable walking shoes for the wooded trails. Flashlights if you plan on wandering off into the woods after dark. Camping gear if you want to camp. There's plenty of firewood close to the campsites. Also, cold showers if you so desire.

We will park in the upper meadow just off the paved road. The spread will be setup in front of the cabin a short hike down the trail. There's a drive down to it for dropping stuff off.

Man! I gotto go clean my junk up. 18 days.

I am a definite for the GTG, and will either bring some potato salad or baked beans and some chips. Other items if necessary.
Anybody who has never been to a local GTG can't imagine what an enjoyable day it is talking with other dorks and looking at each others cars. I usually can't wait to get home and see the pics.
This isn't a diesel only GTG, so you gasser folks please come also. (just maybe drag some pots and pans behind you to sound like a diesel)

Lodging

For lodging there's the Durning House in Van Alstyne. VA is on the way to the ranch about eight miles out.

http://www.durninghouse.com/

Or, The Holiday House in Whitewright just four miles up the road.

http://www.whitewright.com/B&B/BandB.htm

Please call ahead to make sure they have a room available.

I love these ad hoc GTGs. No pussyfooting around allowed.

That said, I don't know if I can make the GTG because we're rapidly getting into plaster mode for the hut-o-straw but, I'll be there in spirit.

more car stuff!

Hmmm - May 5th I'm doing a track day with the Ft Worth MBCA (except i'll be in my track rat Nissan SE-R), then the next weekend is the GTG.

Hope I don't rock the boat with the family with all the car stuff going on (this weekend I've got to do brakes / oil change / radiator flush to get the Nissan back to track spec).

This is close for us DFW folks. I might bring the S600 to change things up a bit .

Yes please do, so that I'm not the only non-diesel this time. Plus I'm interested in seeing it, after hearing about it at the Starbucks in Hillsboro.

Don't worry, I should have a non-diesel or two there.

Anyone up for the drive in movie idea? If so, I gotta start working on a screen. Of course, this will be after dark. May get a bit late for some.

I am really looking forward to the GTG. I can tell it is getting close, as time seems to be moving more slowly......

next weekend

How many are going?

I'm a 80% "go" at the moment - if sunshine I'll bring the 97 S600, rain, you get the 84 300SD.

I'm happy to make a Costco run on the way out and bring something.... water, sodas, chips????

It looks like we have a few...

Please bring your beverage of choice, chips, cookies, bottled water and maybe a bag of ice. I'll provide the BBQ. Someone might bring some buns. There's a grocery store three miles up the road in Tom Bean for anything we forget/run out of.
Be sure to bring a lawn chair to sit on.

I'll mow a parking area in the upper meadow this weekend.

Just eight more days!
