Hello everyone, I am back from law school finally and alive!!

So.....is the gtg Nov 10th?

Ironically, I was just at El Dorado MBZ getting two new keys for my 116 (the previous owner gave me two Home Depot type keys and I didn't want to screw up ignition from the soft key issue, so two new keys I got with the black plastic thingy around them!! (cheaper than Sac MBZ by half I think!! )Everyone there is nice and not snobby even though I pulled up in a 30+ year old car!! Thanks guys, i'll be back.

Anyway if it is the tenth, i'll be there with my '76 450sel, it is now ready to go after I have basically replaced almost everything:

Don't read further unless you can feel my pain:

In the suspension: Idler arm bushing kit, swing arm bushings, rear links, subframe mounts, trans mount, front and rear flex disks, UCA's and bushings, ball joints, tie rods, steering damper and link, OE springs, pads, bilstein comfort shocks, new brake rotors, pads, fluid, lines, sensors, new tires, and new wheel bearings (all around!),

In the engine compartment: Battery tray and heat shield, motor mounts, steering box, smog pump, cruise control amp, steering box, vac lines and thermo-vac switch, non-resistor spark plugs, belts, hoses, all new copper fuses, oil and air filters, and trans and oil pan gaskets.

Exterior: Trunk and drivers door rubber trim, replaced front and rear windshields (front cracked, rear delaminated), replaced cracked headlight doors, new headlights, rear door glass (after thieves broke it to steal my bag, with nothing really in it last week) and antenna cable.

Interior: Vacuum elements, driver's door check, sun visor clips, sheepskins, reupholstered hat rack, rear speakers.

Ernie (at Ernie's Independent MBZ repair-great guy) did most of it and has gone through it and gave it a good bill of health along with oil, trans, coolant changes/flushes, lubed sunroof, replaced fuel lines and filter, etc.

What didn't I do, and I still need to replace plastics here and there, and some rubber odds and ends yet!!! Oh yeah, i'm waiting on my passenger side, side-view mirror!!

And this car was one owner with all the records and regular maintenance!!!

Well, previous owner had recently replaced transmission and timing chain, rails, tensioners so that saved me a few bucks!!!

Anyway, she's as ready as she'll ever be!!

Remember, though he asked $3500, I only paid $2300 for her !!! ( I thought a good buy (no dash cracks, wood all good, A/C and sunroof working, new trans, timing chain kit, etc)

Obviously, I have at least twice that amount invested in the above repairs.

But, she rides like new, and looks pretty good.

My next want is to get my driver's seat straight (compressed to the left) and height adjustment lever and seatbelt needs replacing.

Any ideas on where to get the driver's seat fixed (good upholstery shops) or are there any DIY's out there who have done it and can guide me through.

I saw once some guy showing he fixed his seat collapse with pool noodles?

Sir Nik, or Justin or maybe Jim B.? Any love out there for me?

Anybody?!

Hello?

HaHa! Hopefully, this will be a great get together, I missed the last one due to law school.

Benz-LGB (Ernesto?) if you read this I told you i'd be calling on you when I finished law school, well I have finished and Cal Bar results are pending (3 weeks until I know if I passed, if I do not you'll find me at the bottom of a cliff in my nice W116, and you guys and pick off the parts like vultures)

Anyway if I pass, i'll be calling on you, I am sure you remember what law school loans amount to!! (I coulda bought a new SL instead of law school!!)

How shameful is that?

Maybe I missed it, but is there a specific place, or a place in mind yet?

The sticky in Diesel Discussion talks about El Dorado Hills, which is in the Sacrament area somewhere.

Don't think the SEL will make it that far? I can offer you a ride, could come through Valley Joe on my way from Santa Rosa.

Hahaha It's not that. I been looking to drive pretty far for a while. But I have a few things planned for that night. But it looks like I'm going to make it to the get together. So are we going to meet at a specific place and go somewhere or is the plan set yet?

Ok, this is how it is going to go: (We cannot do a BBQ, as we currently do not have the manpower to set it up)

We will meet at 1000 Mercedes Lane, in El Dorado Hills, CA at approximately 9.30 AM. We will stay there until about 11.00AM, and from that point, we will proceed down Latrobe Road, through the city of Latrobe. We will go through Ione, CA, and then onto Rancho Seco Power Plant for pictures. From there, we will go down to the Sloughhouse Restauraunt, and at that point, it will be approximately 1.30ish. We will meet up with Nik, and then from there, at about 3.00ish, we will head to whereever we decide, most likely the pick and pull......

Hopefully, you guys are cool with this...

But as of now, this Saturday, meet up at 1000 Mercedes Lane in El Dorado Hills, CA at 9.30!

Even though I am still in Los Angeles, right now, I would nonetheless expect to be there.

It will be good to see everyone who comes.
