11 AM would work good for us comping from Sacramento. question is, when is food going to be served at the cheese factory? "you can call me late, but never call me late to dinner"

it takes just under 2 hours to get from Sacramento to Santa Rosa. So if we are meeting at 11 in Santa Rosa, then the Sacramento caravan should meet at 8AM for coffee then head out no later then 9AM. we all know how it is early in the morning waiting for people to get together. so i think we need an hour to get the troops gathered. meeting in West Sacramento worked well last time. so how does meeting at the West Sac Starbucks sound? the one off reed ave.

if we are going to meet sooner in Santa Rosa then we need to bump all the time up accordingly.

Anyone remember the caravan from Sacramento the last time???

We met at 8.00AM, and left at approximately 10.00AM....

And, we helped a BMW driver!

Well maybe that is so, but unfortunately, he has the list with emails of the 25-30 attendees of last year's Diesel Drive.

One of you has to get that off of him, ASAP, so we can notify those people.

Similarly, but separately the idea needs to be floated for a Sacramento meet up and caravan down.

This should include (but not be limited to) addressing the following issues

1. Definitive list of those willing to join the Sacto. crew. Possible individuals:
Troy, Garrett, Justin, Nik, Jim, networkboy, turbobenz, ted brah, patman, others?

2. Pre-departure detail party

3. Departure time

4. Departure place (Towe's auto museum lot, 17th & Q, or other?)

5. Possible meet-up of others on the way (Will70724 and others)

If we meet at Smothers European in Santa Rosa between 11AM -- Noon, we should be to the Cheese Factory by 1 PM, knowing the tendency of these things to run late. If the weather is good, we can continue over to the coast north of Point Reyes Station, drive up the coast a few miles and then head back to US-101. Those who need to get home can then follow 101 south, while those of us who want to visit the Pick-and-Pull in Windsor can go north a few miles.

It should be possible to meet the group in Santa Rosa, at the Cheese Factory, or in Windsor. Those who can come but must leave early can break away at any of these spots. If the weather is uncooperative, we can skip the drive up the coast, stay longer at Smothers or the Cheese Factory, and drive north through Santa Rosa to the Pick-and-Pull on US-101.

Distances:
Smothers to Petaluma ... about 12 miles
Petaluma to the Cheese Factory ... about 5 miles
Cheese Factory to Point Reyes Station ... about 14 miles (twisty)
PRS to Valley Ford ... about 23 miles (slow)
Valley Ford to US-101 north of Santa Rosa (via Freestone Rd, Bodega Hwy, through Sebastopol) ... about 17 miles

If we don't stop for photos, etc., too much, we can make it to the Pick-and-Pull before they close. If not, it will still be a great drive.

I'll provide maps for everyone.
