Shome mishtake shurely???!!

There are lots of interesting wineries, but Highway 29 can be practically a parking lot some times of the year.....

Lots of great,, absolutely first class picnic fixins to be had at the Oakville Grocery company, and many wineries there provide wonderful parks and picnic tables to enjoy lunch!!

Lots of mildly winding roads and great scenery around there, too.

Jeremy is the real expert on the roads around there and he has a beautiful new '96 300Diesel turbo to show off now, along with his gorgeous W123.

Let's go!

We can visit some great wineries while also avoiding the mess of traffic that CA-29 has become. It might be possible to meet in the parking lot of the Mercedes dealer, Smothers, in Santa Rosa and drive from there. Let me check to see if the Smothers parts dept. is open Saturdays. Can't promise to have Tommy and Dickie there, though.

I can come up with maps and a place for lunch. Let me do some research.

NAPA is for auto parts."

What about starting there and heading the other way towards Bodega Bay or the Cheese Factory (some nice driving out to the Cheese Factory and then out to the coast and around to Santa Rosa)

It would depend on the weather. If we get lucky and have clear weather it could be really nice. We could take D Street west from Petaluma, drive out to and along the coast and then back to Santa Rosa -- or vice-versa. No wineries on that route, however, so it would depend on what the group wanted to do. I haven't visited the Cheese Factory in years so that would be fun.

I co manage a beautiful resort between Napa/Sonoma where we have a great outdoor gathering space (covered pavilion, fire pit, etc. for drinks, etc.) We could gather and drive down the Silverado Trail and then go up over the notorious Oakville Grade to Sonoma . . plenty of twisties! sound good?

That is a nice drive, I have been on it.

It figures in legal annals. About 20 years ago, famous San Francisco socialite/architect Sandy Walker was driving his Mercedes Benz W126 on the Silverado Trail with his 29 year old girlfriend Sue Zelonis, and he crashed the car into a tree.

Zenonis was killed.

Sandy Walker was drunk, at the time of the accident, but he argued at trial that the Mercedes Benz, which was a gray market W126, had been improperly converted by the Registered Importer to proper standards, and that therefore the car was to blame for the crash, and the death of Zelonis.

Amazingly, the Court bought that argument, and Walker escaped custodial punishment.

For his part, Walker to this day remains part of the San Francisco "social scene".
