Arrow Third Texas Mercedes-Benz Get Together-Saturday, July 26th 2008

The Third Texas Mercedes-Benz Get Together is coming soon! Caravans leaving from Austin, the DFW Metroplex, and Houston will once again converge upon the midway point between Houston and Dallas on I-45 known as Centerville on Saturday, July 26, 2008 for a day filled with automotive fun! I want this to be the biggest gathering we've had to date. The first time in 2006, we had about 40 cars, the second time in 2007, about 30 cars showed up. This time, I want to see as many cars and people as we can, lets see how many we can get and show them how we do meets down here in Texas, . It doesn't matter what kind of Mercedes-Benz you have, old, new, pristine, ragged, diesel, gas, Sprinter or whatever, we want YOU to attend so that we can have a diverse cross-section of cars and enthusiasts to enjoy the day. Got family members, friends, or neighbors who drive Mercedes-Benzes? Tell them to come on out! Caravans departing from each city will depart at a time that gives them a 12:00 Noon arrival time in Centerville. We will have a BBQ lunch in a room reserved just for us at the world famous Woody's Smokehouse on the NORTHBOUND side of I-45. After everyone has eaten, we'll head 4 miles south of town on old Highway 75 to Fort Boggy State Park for the Show and Shine! There is an admission to the state park, $2 for those age 13 and older. We will hand out awards based on People's Choice for best Vintage Model (Pre 1980), Best 1980s Model, Best 1990s Model, and best 2000-present Model. Bring the camera, PLENTY of water and maybe some sunscreen to the park because it WILL be hot, and have some fun with fellow "BenzNuts".

Smile Yea, another get together !!

Yea !!!

I may bring a car I just bought not long ago.

It is a 1982 200 D

Made for the European market, and was shipped over by an individual.
Has cloth interior, crank up windows, a few other things you don't see on
the American market cars.
......

I have some stuff to trade if you like..
Complete first aid kit, MB trunk tool kit with bag, Lots of rims, Glow plug relays, Injectors etc...

And I am looking for a euro headlight assembly, drivers side.

Have Fun !

Well, I've got less than 2 months to figure out which car to bring. 70% chance wagon, 20% chance China, 10% chance of the Squash.
Can't wait. It is always a great meet, and Joe does a great job coordinating.....

I was planning another trip to TX this summer; perhaps Zeke could make it from SA as well.

You can probably count me in, but I can't confirm anything until next month.

It would be alot of fun to take the SL, but Ol' turbo will be making the trip out of practicality.

Jimmy, if you're bringing the wagon, bring a few of your rarer fans while your at it. Seems to be quite a collection.

Gee, I would really like to be there, but that is a long trip for the "Refugee" (from a junk yard). Centerville is a good place for Houston and DFW folks, not too bad for Austin folks, but a mite far for an Abilene folk (me). I would like to suggest someplace like Mother Neff State Park, Colorado Bend State Park, Meridian State Park, or almost anyplace where you can't get there by interstate highway. The scenery is better and you don't have to run away from truckers that don't know where their brake pedal is.

Regardless, I will try to be there anyway with the Refugee, (1982 330D turbom 184,000 miles), but don't count me until I arrive. Besides, the refugee is going to a paint shop soon and may not be back in time.

You can have it done fast, cheap, or right. Pick any two!

Maybe you could meet up with one of the Fort Worth group and convoy with them to our first meeting spot just south of Dallas. We'd love to have you show.......

So, I'm thinking........should I drive the extra hour and a half and meet the Dallas group at the truck stop? Or should I just cut the corner and join the convoy at Buffalo I-45 entrance ramp?

Now that Coda has a new dash and half the speakers working, she wants to "show off".

Riding with the convoy is fun, nothing like a line of Mercedes-Benzes riding down the highway.

Especailly if we are all going 80 mph in the fast lane; I mean driving in the slow lane with our lights on at 60mph.
