What a great day ... started off rough when I ran over my laptop (I'm typing this awkwardly while plugged into a TV) but the afternoon more than made up for it. I'm sad it's over ... this feels like the week after Christmas. As always it was great to see old friends and meet some new people. And see so many cool cars of course. Thanks a million, Chad.
I have to come next year... didn't realize that you guys were driving each other's cars... I could also use some welding advice, as JB3 gave me a Harbor Freight 90-amp to play with last Sunday.

...oh, and you ran over your laptop. What the heck? I thought I was good, but I haven't reached that level yet. The most I've done is a snow shovel. I have busted the rear axle on my bike within two years of riding. Does that count? Our cat has destroyed the laptop before (true story), but not me... come to think of it, why am I letting the cat get ahead of me?

Uh oh, I'm rambling. Time for bed.

Wow!

I had a great time at Chad's Benzfest despite all the diesel heads!

Kidding of course.

I met some great people with their cars. Gary's car makes me want a diesel sedan......

Thanks to Chad and his family for putting on a great GTG. Man, those smoked dogs were amazing.

Thanks again....I hope to return to another.

Question German pretzels

Who is the kind soul brought the German pretzels? I doubt they were from the name on the bag with the others. Looking for a source for our Oktoberfest, need your vendor please.

William Hopper brought them. I'll send him a message and try to get the name.

Here's the website for the bakery. I couldn't find a way to have them shipped through the website. Looks like they need to be called.

Thumbs up

That site is a memory of walking down the street with my grandmother to the bakery! They are getting an order soon. Thanks for the link!

HOODLINER

Great car!

Regarding the hood liner; most of the sound insulation products are made out of neoprene which is garbage. You can check chemical compatability to verify my statement. Neoprene has poor chemical resistance to oil, gas and diesel. Know any cars that breathe diesel and belch oil?

There is a company in California that sells ADHESIVE-BACKED Nitrile which IS IMMUNE to all these nice products. It comes in different thicknesses and I used the inch or inch and a quarter product. You cut it to the shape, spray a PERMANENT adhesive to the inside of the hood (per instructions and after you power wash and rinse it well at the local self-serve car wash), peel the backing off the product and carefully line it up before touching any part to the hood. While I did mine in one sheet, THIS IS AT LEAST A TWO MAN JOB, and that is two men that can comfortably reach the top of the upright hood (stand it vertically). Once these two adhesives come together, there is no moving it or pulling it loose without tearing the rubber. Mine is slightly crooked. The difficulty in installing comes from the concave shape of the hood. Standing on the side and holding near the four corners leads you to touching the hood at the outside, which if both people do it, may tend to leave a gap in the middle. You do not want to stretch something that doesn't stretch much. I will leave it to you how to figure out how to center the material and touch it top center and work outwards.

SEARCH: supersoundproofingsales the tech guy at this company recoed a 3M permanent adhesive that is sprayed on, do it liberally and let it sit before applying as instructed. I have been happy with the product, and it has held up well in every way since installed two years ago.

I don't believe that the added thickness I used is necessary, and suggest using plus or minus 3/4" pad. The product looks great, and can be LIGHTLY power washed at the self car wash (haven't seen a need to do that yet, as it looks like I just installed it.

Funny!

Hope to make it next year, almost done w this 1968 camper project. You have a date picked for next years event? Would like to get it on my events book!

Hey Chad, have you thought about a date for this year yet ? I'd like to come and can make it for any weekend in August (school will start September 3rd).

I'm thinking Saturday, August 23rd.

It's before school starts and it's my birthday weekend. I couldn't imagine a better birthday present than seeing old friends (and hopefully new ones too) and loads of MBs in my yard.

I'll make a formal post once I clear it with my wife and our schedules.
