Glad to hear you're coming Eric. Want to participate in another caravan this year from the eastern DFW area?
I might have to check how much compression China no longer has........ :o:o
Seems like I have the injector crush washers already.

Supposedly with this Harbor Freight kit we can connect the tool to the Glow Plug port without removing the injectors.

I know one or some might be hard but thats part of the reason I have settle in to do it myself.

I may just meet you guys up there this year.

I'm interested in helping/watching the engine swap or anything transmission related. I think I need to drop mine and carry it to shop to have front seals redone. Looking forward to having my car on lift and get some feedback on more things to add to my list if its worthy of fixing. I've noticed I have some floorpan issues that will require some work eventually.

I'm really sorry I can't make this one. I was just looking at a video I made last year of Sunny and Roy and realizing how much I'm missing out on.

ooooo I cant wait!

sunnyintx 11-19-2009 03:40 PM

Sorry, no engine transplant

I've talked to our host Steve, who owns the shop we'l be using for our session. his liability insurance will not let us do the engine, unless Roy does the work. Roy has worn himself to a frazzle, and with the stuff he's already promised forthe tech session, that is just not going to be possible.

While we could execute waivers of liability, the way his insurance is structured (because of the current case law), he could lose his insurance coverage if we go forward.

I am sorry. this is something I had not anticipated, but should have. There is not really time to resolve it before the tech session, though Steve and I will try to see what can be done for next year.

I feel very ill after watching this !!!

JimmyL 11-19-2009 09:20 PM

I had a pretty good idea which way the winds were blowing when the "Insurance" word was used.........;)
Oh well, there will be pleanty for us to do and learn, and then some of us in the DFW area can help Andy with his engine swap here locally at a later date. {tough time of year to shoe horn that in though} :(
I look forward to this event just as much with or without the engine swap!!!! Glad to know there is no possible way now that any of us could be injured..... :wink3:

BTW, here is the Harbor Freight engine lift, and it is often on sale for $119 to $139 bucks. Folds up and out of the way. Would love to have one......

Man, I wish I could attend! I just got a W124 this summer, and I have a lot to learn. But, company is coming, and it would be nice if there was a prepared spot for them stay.

Oh yeah, and the Christmas lights don't do their thing without help either. Sigh. Pesky neighbors and their planned collaboration!
