Thanks again! Anybody know if W123 & W124 diffies are compatible?

Here is an updated map with the ideal members to visit. If you know of any fellow members up for the adventure, let him/her know! Boy, this is looking like the road trip of a lifetime!

While I am at it, let me know if there are any parts/items I can transport to anyone while I am on the trip. If I can help, I will!

Is it just you travelling? Are you taking the whole family?

One idea is to take photos of the other PP members you meet and post them as you travel.

I am sure a lot of people here want to know what the others look like.

It really depends on my friend Bree. She needs to secure a job in the area or stay around Boston. If she doesn't get it, I'll go solo.

That's EXACTLY what I would like to do. It is not too often that we can see members from the exact opposite coast, especially those who are more involved in the PP community.

As your trip gets closer, PM or e-mail me. I'll get you directions to the farm.

Sometimes I'm gone on Wednesdays but that commitment is flexible and I can certainly adjust it to spend time hanging out with a fellow Benz-head.

Speaking of feeding...

By the time you get over here, I'll have some of my steers back from the processor. Prepare yo'sef for some all natural, grass fed, 21 day aged beef.

Now there's a great incentive!

Ooooooh, man. That really sounds über-delicious.
Boy, I wish there was a way I could pay back... definitely:

1) My future home (no matter how small) in the Bay Area will be open to fellow MB members.

2) If you are in the mood for drawing/painting lessons, I'd love to help you or your loved ones!

If you want to stop by and see my neighborhood in Dallas, Texas, where late night car chases end, shoot me a PM.

Updates: I will be traveling solo cross country, and I am on the hunt for a teardrop trailer like the one in the picture! This means I will open up a little more to places like Florida.

( Looking forward to meeting you, AquaticEdge! )

Miguel, I should have my guest room finished by then. You're welcome to crash at my house in Arlington, if you're inclined to stop for the night when you're nearby.

Dee8go, your hospitality is very much appreciated. If you do not finish your guest room, I will help you do it! What does it need?

I will gladly help any Mercedes owner in the way...

...to help with your favourite machine's repairs.
...to do garden/yard/home improvement work.
...to teach some art lessons to you or the kids!

I will not travel cross-country in a few years, so I want to make this experience as memorable as I possibly can. I will bring my trusty Canon G9 and document it as thoroughly as I can on this thread. Lawrence of Arabia style.

How does this little fellow look like to you?

Oh, that's a really nice camper.
What is your current projected date of departure?
I'd likely be on your first day if we meet up in NJ.
There are only a few life changing things I've experienced so far, luckily, and driving across the US is one of them.
It takes time not a lot of people have, or it takes time that a lot of people had once, and they did something else instead and now they have to wait until retirement, if they can even do it then.

A small suggestion is to also write a journal to accompany your photos.
If you do it electronically instead of via pen and paper and composition book, make sure to print it out. Same with the photos!
Wait until Walgreens or Costco or some such has a big sale on photo prints and then print all of them. Don't edit.
Don't forget to deal with the time changes in your camera for record keeping, unless you have some super new model that does that by GPS.

My approximate departure date would be the late twenties of May. And yes, you are absolutely correct on that, now it's the time and place to do so.

Soon I will be requesting a moderator to move this topic to the GTG section, then we can do some serious planning on who to meet in the way.

For now, I am concentrating on the logistics (hitch, suspension, food, trailer, route, basic maintenance...)
