I have driven to CA many times before (two in the LS400, two in the Outback), but this is a no-return trip that will open a new stage of my life.

For that matter, I would like to meet as many of you as possible, as my experiences meeting people from PeachParts (Hogweed and Billybob) have been extremely rewarding and fun. I will be taking the Southern Route (down to TX and then westward). I will certainly stop by my friend's family town in Mississippi and New Orleans.

The approximate dates are at the beginning of June.
The photos will be posted on this thread. Here is the draft route, open to modifications depending on the members of this forum:

Looking forward to seeing many of you! :cowboy:
Let me know if you are in my route or close enough.
(Including the PeachParts central in Georgia!)

How do people do the virtual marks a lot?

Do you mean the markers on the map? You open Google maps, go to "Get Directions", and keep "Adding Destinations" to the route.

Changing topics, anyone up for meeting in either CT or past Texas?

Fulcrum525 04-15-2011 08:39 AM

Depends on what time of day you intend on passing through CT.....

If you stop everywhere there's a forum member, you'll never make it to SF, Miguel. Of course, you could write a book about your journey. You could call it Rhode Island to California in Under A Year.

No problem, Tom! I have 2-3 weeks and I have seen all the landmarks I could ask for in my previous drives. This time I want to take it easy and not be as concerned about HAVING to be there. I will be flexible on times to show up... work is work! It will be a nice chance to walk around the area and not die asphyxiated in my lil' Ham can.

The only thing that I missed and would like to see is Monument Valley, to ride through it in my 300TD like Clint Eastwood. Yee-haw!

Wow did Eastwood own a 300TD?

(I'm kidding - don't respond)

This is how I envision the road trip.

Cross Country Fun

As one who's been doing this for almost 60 years now , you're going to have a ball if you have the right attitude for the minor issues that will inevitably crop up .

Maybe you can post road reports as you go ? .

Delibes 04-19-2011 07:45 PM

Definitely. I will narrate my adventures on this thread. In fact, I will have a demo soon, in the weekend of May 7th; a small road trip to NYC and Zelienople, Pennsylvania. I would also love to see the humongous, abandoned Bethlehem Steel complex. Anyone along the way?

As soon as I get a definitive day of departure, I will start messaging people. Can't wait to meet all o' ya!

speednjay 04-19-2011 11:55 PM

. . . .

I love abandoned industrial spaces like that. I'd like to visit some and photograph them on 8x10 chrome film and T Max. Take some photos there and post them, Miguel. I'd like to see what it looks like.

Ever done any urban exploration? That's another one of my bucket list items . . .
