Alright! Long time since the last post; not much has been happening here at the hostel. I am pretty much confined to the place and I do not have much time to explore around. That will soon change next weekend, as I will take off to continue the route! Expect a special on the Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) very soon...

...and talking of the dead, well, in today's post I adventure into a notoriously dangerous place where people have been killed at the hands of criminals. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Mercado de Abastos.

Hey miguel-- if I were down there Ide head to the little village above the cuidad called hwatuulco--however its spelled-- on the south pasific side, the little village has mummies in a cave and they will drag them out and let you photograph yourself with their dead relatives--- Where else are you going to get the chance to do THAT again.

I got those pesky springs changed at the Mercedes truck dealership! I thought they would be the only ones with the right tools. Amazing low rates, too. The old springs, unfortunately, were from a 280E and left the nose way too low. Ride height is tall enough to go on rural roads now. I got the oil changed as well as the brake pads while they were at it, and I will DIY swap the cruise control unit, the emergency brake light sensor, and the exhaust hangers right on the street. Should not be any problem at all!

There is Livingstone, up in a "pedestal" for proud display to customers.

Haha! Well, I am trying to be on budget, and I would rather invest the money in a flight to Cuba to track down that Gullwing

Now, wouldn't it be a riot if I actually celebrated the end of the world at the Mayan pyramids? That date should reach me around Tikal in Guatemala... let's see, let's see...

As a present, they also redid the parking brake pads and resealed the insulation wires for the sensors. Top notch service!

Exclamation C.A. Touring

When you're in Guatemala , go look at Lago Amatitlan ~ I really enoyed it , it's nt far from the volcno and has team vents under the water in one end by the rocks , this means you can place a plucked & cleaned chicken in a mesh bag & lower it into the water and it'll cook.....

I have mostly fond memories of Guatemala , Military Coup and every thing .

It's about $325! Not bad for the amount of work it takes. They told me it's about $10 per hour, but they charge on a per-job basis. Still!

On the thought of a lake I immediately thought of a nice swim. But not on this one, I take!

TIA ,
The front ones are factory W123 diesel springs with 13mm pads. The rear ones come from a W140 400SE. Between the two of them the ride height is perfect, and looks good –thinking of resale. SLS was disabled by the PO.

Now, this is a question for everybody following the adventure: would anyone be interested on buying something from Oaxaca before I leave? Especially now in the Day of the Dead (Dia de Muertos) before it ends! I have fulfilled about three orders so far and have one week left...

Here are some things you may like: ceramic skulls, black Oaxacan pottery, folkloric dresses, dried (edible) grasshoppers, marzipans, skull candy, chocolate, dried fruit candies, antiques, figurines...

Send me a PM!

I finally got around to writing the entry for the glorious Day of the Dead. Much against what we Westerners do, it's a day full of celebration, joy, food and music! I really makes you rethink how one should approach our own traditions.
