I am still hanging by a thread. In an inspection under the car I noticed that the aft most rubber coupling ( guibo in BMW speak) at the differential is cracked and stretched. Just lucky I was not cranking down the highway when it decides to let loose. I will update.

Looks like there's other VW's coming and I am debating whether to drive the VW EcoDiesel or the 83 300D turbo. The Eco gets around 45 mpg and the 300DT about 27. Even though the fuel is "free" I burn less with the VW so it is tempting. I'll probably make a last minute decision.

On another note, does anyone have a gray W123 passenger front fender in good condition? Mine has a dent from a deer strike and badly rusted on the bottom and too much work to repair.
