Iam coming up from the monterey Bay area. about 700+ miles.
This will be my third GTG up there. Mc Minville, to see the Spruce goose, then last year to Mt St Helens in washington.

YIKES! I-5 S 315 mi, 5 hours 43 mins

Works for me... but then I live in Portland. Our Seattle brethren may sit this one out, though. I know that last year the group did Mt St Helens; there is another park with a St Helens view just a bit north of there, called Seaquest State Park. It also has nice views of the area.

Alternatively, we could stick with Silver Falls for the Oregon folk, and have our northern neighbors suggest a GTG somewhere in the San Juans... can't you just see the line up of vintage MB's at the ferry dock?! Maybe we should just ping-pong it year by year: one year Oregon, next year Washington.

Yeah next year we can meet up in Seattle, have Clam Chowder at Ivers (as I remember it being called) take a ferry ride to Bremerton or something like that. took that ride many time when I was in the Navy back in 64. then they had the old wood Ferries that came from the San Francisco Bay crossings. dang those things use to reattle and shake coming into the slip.
