Seventh Annual Texas Mercedes-Benz Owners GTG - Saturday, June 2, 2012

Sorry for the short notice, it's been a busy last few months. But let me start off by announcing that we got the pavilion reserved this year, so we'll have shade!

The seventh Annual Texas Mercedes-Benz Get Together will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012. Caravans of Mercedes-Benz autos leaving from Austin, the DFW Metroplex, Houston and San Antonio will once again meet at the midway point between Houston and Dallas on I-45 known as Centerville for a day filled with automotive fun! This is an event open to all Mercedes-Benz owners, regardless of the age or condition of their car, from garage queens to daily drivers to beaters. Owners from points beyond Texas are welcome to attend. We've had repeat attendees from Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Kansas participate in this get together. Smart and Sprinter owners are invited to attend, too. Do you have family members, friends, or neighbors who drive Mercedes-Benzes and don't know about this event? Tell them to come on out! The caravans will depart at a time that will give them a 12:00 Noon arrival time in Centerville. You can check below for the departure time for the caravan nearest you. We will have reserved parking and a BBQ lunch in a room reserved just for us at the world famous Woody's Smokehouse on the NORTHBOUND side of I-45. After everyone has eaten, we'll head 4 miles south of town on old Highway 75 to Fort Boggy State Park for the Show and Shine! Admission to Fort Boggy is FREE. Awards will be given out based on People's Choice for best Vintage Model (Pre 1980), Best 1980s Model "Young Classics", Best 1990s Model, and Best 2000-present Model. Bring the camera, water and some sunscreen to the park because it probably will be hot. Come on out to have some fun with fellow MB owners and fans. We're gonna have a good time!

Departure Points:
(If you are coming from a town not listed below, (ex: Beaumont, Tyler, etc...) and you are interested in setting up a caravan if you expect 2 or more other vehicles to come along, send me a private message so we can get something set up. Keep watching this list to see if any other cities get added.)

Short Notice............indeed

I'd like to make the trip, but I need a working cruise control or a good co-pilot before I make that drive. I guess I could vary my speed enough to keep cramps out of my right foot.

Don't have an MB at the moment, but an 840ci with the check engine light on is a good substitute. Or my Jeep.

If it's a 1996 or newer, it's OBDII, if it's running well with just a check engine light, it's probably emissions related and not something that will blow it up.

Too bad it's not an MB .. I have all diagnostic equipment (blink code readers, Star Diagnostic System, etc.) and would be happy to bring and run it. But would have to be a Benz.

Anyone making plans yet for the 8th Central Texas get together at Centerville? If so, when and is it permissible to bring spare parts for sale or trade? We usually have a trip to Arkansas the second weekend in June so just trying to be able to attend both functions.
Thanks
Jerry

I plan to host an 8th annual GTG sometime in June. The exact date will be announced in a few weeks.

Let's hope for early June so that it's not too toasty
If you can figure a date out quickly, let me know and I'll start beating the bongo's so that we can get a good turn out. I checked the MBCA calendar and it's only updated to early May. It may be worth getting in touch with Charles and DJ and the other section leaders to see if we can get them on board.

Thanks

Al
