This Sunday: Blue Nelson ONE MILLION KILOMETER Celebration in Gardena CA

Think about your relationship with your vehicle. Would you keep it 25 years? What if you had no radio, no air conditioning, no cruise control and no smart phone? Would you log every mile and every gallon of fuel? Would you drive it 200,000 miles? How about 600,000 miles? Would you tow other cars with it for over 100,000 of those miles? Pull boats? Haul countless engines and parts in it? Use it as a film car, shaggin' wagon, mobile engine-repair rig, rescue vehicle, Death Valley tour lead car, Bonneville push car, trans-continental cruiser, and simply a grocery getter?

For Blue Nelson, storied classic car hunter and collector of significant Mercedes and Porsches, the answer to all these questions is "Why not?" He has been instrumental in rescuing, preserving and restoring Mercedes W123s by the hundreds and traveled through more than 100 countries to do so, but he has kept this one special classic car close by. Bring your BMW or Mercedes and visit Blue and his trusted 300Turbo Diesel Wagon on May 15th at State of Speed Los Angeles at 500 W190th St. Gardena, CA 90248 at the very moment the odometer rolls over its 1,000,000 th Kilometer ( 621,371 miles ) upon entering the meet-up; straight in from Oregon. Come meet two legends and be inspired. Plus, there will be spotlight vehicle parking for any European classic with 300,000 miles !

300SLD & 240D

My brother and I brought my 300SLD & my 240D. You all know about the SLD, but maybe not about the 240D. It was destined for the scrapper (I got it from a friend that got it from the original owner), and upon further inspection after purchasing, it had a LOT of potential. All original paint (although some dents, scratches on the front fender from a blowout, and a small amount of rust by the rear window), the interior is very nice, only a few small cracks in the dash, and the wood decent as well. It did have some back fees, as it was not non-op'ed. After a lot of cleaning, polishing, replacing parts and new tires, the car looks and drives great! It only has 126,000 miles on it. It starts right up, does not leak anything, and shifts and stops like new!. I am the second owner (the guy I got it from was just the middleman), and got the original "pink slip" for the car. It had personalized plates on it, so I was not able to get original blue and yellow plates for it.

More pictures.

A lot of interesting cars there, mostly Mbz but a lot of BMW and custom cars. One of the picture shows a rotary engine in an old Datsun.
