How about a New England gtg?

Yeah, I know, middle of winter. I was thinking maybe in late April, early May when the weather gets nicer? Has there ever been a NE gtg? So many nice cars it would be good to see some of them in person. RT

Holson Adi was trying to drum up some for a NE GTG. Not sure what happened to the sticky, it wasn't too long back, just a couple weeks I think. Didn't seem to be much interest for some reason. Maybe that's changing.

Holson, where'd the sticky go??? Looks like your attendance has increased 25% or so.

Yeah I posted it under Open Discussion. Since there was not enough interest, I just asked the moderator to demote it from a 'Sticky' status.

My attendance... hehehe :p Maybe that's because my attendace for my Mechanics class dropped 80% :p Neah, I've just been reading up on the W124's too..

I really wanna have a diesel gathering. Make me want to keep my car now....Sure it ain't no 500E but the 500E is not a W123 and not a diesel!!! If only my 300CD handled as well...

Late April or May is perfect .. I'll be done with my finals, papers, and what not too. Too bad I won't have A/C unless I don't get a 500E and put a new A/C in.

I don't mind having a smaller gathering during a nice winter weekend anywhere.... I was thinking of Cape Cod or anywhere.

Maybe we could all meet up at a Legal Sea Foods and have lunch or something :p somewhere with a big parking lot.

No, yall can't have a get together,,,, it has already been tried,,,,, some people showed up ... did not identify themselves, did not talk to anyone else, and left without having eaten any good food.... it was in NEW JERSEY !
Yall can't even figure out where your gtg MESSAGE went ....
I think the problem is the states up there are too small... too close together.... and populated by yankees...just not a good situation overall...sorry to have to be the bearer of the bad news...
Yall are invited to the Central Texas get together when it happens in the spring....it will be the opposite of the one yall attampted up there...

What a funny guy Leathermang is... I say we all take him up on his offer, drive to the TX gtg and pour a bowl of fine NE clam "chowda" on his head and drop a lobster in his shorts-live of course! Seriously though, I lived in TX and greatly prefer it to NE but I am here now and I think we could pull off a little gtg without to much of a problem. You are even invited Leathermang, (I'll keep the lobster and chowda for myself). I see lots of posts from guys in CT, MA, NJ, NY so maybe a more southern area would be better? Even down PA way would be okay for a day or weekend trip. If we start talking about this now maybe we will be ready by spring..... RT

Thanks RT, but the funny posts (not intentionally) were from the guys that went to that "event"... they kept posting and saying like " yeah I was there too... did you see anyone else, no did you? , no,,, stayed a while then left....( LOL ) I got DOWN reading them... although it was a sad image... SomeBody Take Charge... that is the secret... get committmants, and cell phone numbers up front... so if someone has trouble on the way to the event a rescue squad can be sent out to help...
Having been the (control freak)cook for the one down here I just kept shaking my head when the descriptions kept coming in ....
If I come up there I will bring some Texas B-B-Que... I understand there are very few places up there to get it...
If you come down here we will show you where SOUTHERN hospitality got its reputation... we won't put anything on you you don't want on you...or down your pants.... You will have to mind staying out of the fire ant mounds... as we have no control over them either...but we have no ticks or chiggers since they arrived....

Hey Greg,

If you can define a link between no ticks and having fire ants instead, you might make a few bucks selling them up here. Ticks in my neck of the woods, Old Lyme, CT, are pretty famous for being insiduous little creatures that can carry diseases that cripple (known as Lyme Disease as it was discovered and named here). And they are nasty to pick off your dogs.

If there is a goup gathering, even if it falls short of a Texas Shindig, but does not result in people "gathering" without noticing each other, I am all for it. The last NJ one was pretty cool, with an array of Diesels to gawk at and lots of people to compare notes with - almost too many to really spend much time with everyone. If someone sets it up and the travel schedule allows, I will be there. Jim

Jim, If you are meaning 'internet link' I can not.. but if you are talking about a causal relationship between fire ants invading an area I was very serious about the fire ants/ticks/fleas situation... it has been well documented concerning them pretty much eating everything which can not jump and fly away... it has been shown that they are a benefit in cotton fields due to them eating boll weavels, and corn fields for eating corn earworms..... and here on this 30 acres... which we have owned for 31 years... the arrival of the fire ants coincided with the absence of ticks and chiggers... which we certainly had in the beginning...they are also threatening many of the native ants.... like the red harvester.... but I don't know how bad that is
Your problem is that they are like ' snowbirds' and do not like cold weather... but if you want to try establishing them each spring I will be happy to send you boxes and boxes of "starter kits"....also, if you put them into green houses over winter I am sure they would survive...just let me know where to send them...

Arrow i'm up for it

a couple of days here in ct have been rather mild lately - pushing 50deg in the afternoon, so no reason not to have a gtg

i think a place by the ocean/long island sound in ma/ct/ri would be ideal, although maybe something inland like the berkshires or
stubridge would be also within a reasonable range for a lot of us
including some of the guys from ny/nj.

If somebody would just set a place in MA/RI/CT I would definitely go. It would be cool if it could be somewhere historical :p Well I wanna go on some sort of 'vacation'...

I would love to just set a time/place but I do not know this area well at all. I mean I've only been in the country for a year!

Central Connecticut is the place! ...as long as it's near a strip club or bar....

Teasing... I would definantly want to gather with some forum members as long as it's on a day I have off from work. That's a gamble in itself....

How about the Mystic Aquarium Parking Lot ..
Plenty of room .. easy on-off from either
direction on rte 95 .. couple of restaurants
in the same parking area .. Any other ideas ??

It's Exit 90 on rte 95 ..

There's a newish Hilton Hotel right there ..
The area is convenient to two area casinos
and the beach communities .. nice any time
of the year and easy for anyone in the NE area
to find ..

We just need to settle on a 'time' ..

Jim .. "still" in Ct

Yeah sounds good, and straightforward. I guess all I have to do is Rt.9 -> I-95 and just all the way down?
