WA GTG

I am just testing the waters right now to see if anyone would be interest in having a WA GTG sometime this spring or summer. I am thinking that we can all meet somewhere that is convenient for everyone, location is not important to me. If there is any interest we can move forward with the planning process.

About a 5 of us got together last August at Lake Sammamish. It seemed kinda centrally located for most who spoke up and said they'd be interested. We had two guys come all the way down from B.C., and one came up from portland area. Another came over from Yakima.
I'd love to do another this year. I was gonna try and make it down to the northern calif GTG, but doesn't look like I'll be able to make it. I kinda headed up the GTG last year, so I'll let someone else take the lead this year and see if we can't scare up a few more participants.
Let's do it!

Ok, I vote for Lake Chelan as a good location, it is only 30 minutes from my house, and most likely will have nice warm weather. Plus there is a wrecking yard there with several Audi's. I might be able to head up this event, but I will have to see how busy I am going to be in the next few months first.

Kool!
Doesn't really take much time once a date and place is decided on. I took a drive down to the lake a couple months previous to see what the facilities were, and whether or not we needed to reserve a spot. Turned out to be an awsome park with more than adequate room, and we didn't bother with reservations. We just found a shady spot out in the middle of the parking area and pulled out our chairs. The parking areas are fairly roomy and most have grass that you park on. Worked great. But if enough people want to make a little more formal affair of it, we can rent a picnic area with tables, barbeque and some are even covered(this is Seattle remember!;) ) Not sure what the fees are, but somewhere I have their website bookmarked, I think, or it can be found thru the Washington State parks site.

There is a nice city park in Chelan, on the south side of the lake, sort of near the waterslides. In the past there has never been a fee to use the park or even a parking fee. I think there might even be a picnic shelter, but the park is full of huge trees to shade the Eastern Washington sun.

Lake Chelan sounds good to me; I like it up there, and am familiar with the area.

The park that 123c suggests is by far the nicest park in the Chelan area on the water.

Plus, I'd be bringing the 380SE if I was able to make it.

I can try to go to Chelan sometime this week, and take some pictures of the parks. The one I am thinking about is probally the nicest one of all, if I remember right, they put in some nice docks to jump off and a swim raft thingy.

Try and go on a sunny day and get some pictures; even if it means waiting longer. Chelan looks pretty dreary under the winter clouds, if memory serves.

I think I will wait, yesterday would have been a great day to take pictures. I guess if we are trying to sell people on this place, we should show it when it looks nice

Count me in

Last years event was fun and I'd be game for another one.Of course I'm partial to something a little closer to the border but the lake was a nice spot and if it's more central for people from the south, then great.

There is Lake Okanogan, which is on the boarder. There is a nice State Park there.

Wait, I was thinking of Osoyoos Lake, here is the link to it:

Hi Eric, Lake Osoyoss is beautiful but I was thinking of something closer to the coast. I think it's called Chuckanut Drive, south of Bellingham. There is a lake along the drive and probably a park as well.

How about Lake Sammamish again? That might be a good compromise for everyone, it's a 2.5 hour drive for me, and less than an hour for everyone else, except Kyle.

123c 01-29-2003 08:45 PM

How about a date and time, I am open to any day, except April 26-27 and May 3-4. I will be busy partying at the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival.
