Chevy Avalanche GTG from Cape Cod...

Hey guys, figured some of you might like to see some of the photos from a GTG in Cape Cod. It was cold but a stronger turn out than the diesel gathering we had a month ago :-(

Yep, the Cummins may out HP them but the Dmax puts more torque/hp all over the curve. Hard to keep a Cummins in the powerband if you ain't geared right..... RT

I think that, at 600 horsepower, the Cummins' power curve is more evened out. Besides, although I don't know about the D-max, the Cummins is in 4 digit torque numbers by the time it gets anywhere near 600 hp.

Actually, I was under the impression that the D-max didn't put anything more than 300 hp in stock form, or was the 600 hp number you quoted a modified version?

I dunno...I've always prefered pure cast-iron engines that'll go forever

The Dmax is 300hp stock. The most basic chips will give you 80hp more. The 600hp was a tricked out version that ran the Pikes Peak race. I think the race motor was good for 4800rpm!! Theres a lot of potential in that motor, they have only just started to turn the wick up on 'em. RT

Nice! However my dream truck is still the G400 CDI! I am not even considering any other SUV's. Maybe the small RAV4 but that's it.
So either I can afford it (rich) or not :p

But I think we should have our next New England GTG in Cape Cod!

I was thinking that exact same thing when I was there... how could you beat a parade of Benz's, let alone diesel Benz's chillin' at the Cape in the warmer months?

I have an '02 Avalanche 1500 2wd with about 40K miles on the clock. Granted, the truck looks like it was hit with an ugly stick. My theory is that the design team that produced the Aztec was stuck on the Avalanche figuring out they couldn't screw up such a good idea.

The truck rides great and the flexible bed setup is great for clean cargo. It has compartments on the sides of the bed that eliminate the need for a cargo box taking up room in the bed. It's built on the Suburban frame, hence no Duramax / Allison - yet.

There are two good things about the ugly plastic cladding: less paint to Zaino and no door dings!

Wink The Cape.

Hello out there : how can I insert an ECHO?)

I seem to have gotten my spacing adjusted a little better.

Cape Cod is a wonderful place! However, during the summer, the commute over EITHER of the 2 bridges is a pain in the *ss!....Whenever I travel to (on, not in) the Cape, I always travel down at NIGHT! Attending a GTG will enable me to bring the 'yacks down for a paddle............nightime on the water is THE BEST............What do you call sitting in a kyak splashing your hands up to the elbows in the ocean called? SHARK BAIT!!!! My son loves whenever I say this to any othersthat we meet up with on the water!!!Women especially seem to get ashen faced whenever this is brought up>funny!

Max, and I will attend. If my fiance is not doing the retail syndrom, we will bring her along as well> Perhaps a little LESS wind than Hammonassett. If not less wind, then less WIND CHILL!!

Sometime just before memorial day should allow us to all have a pleasant ride to a fun GTG. Anyone with counter opinions speak now or forever hold your peace.

Best wishes always! and KEEP THOSE DIESELS HUMMING!!!spo out.

Here in Oklahoma, you can't throw a rock without hitting an Avalanche. Every Chevy truck dealer is an Avalanche GTG every weekend. I guess someone is buying them.

Sorry C5RV, I really can't see the appeal. No offsense, at least it is useful, but that has to be in AMC Gremlin/Pacer territory.
