SoCal GTG 3/16 - San Diego caravan

San Diego MercedesShop members:
The Socal GTG in Huntington Beach is this Sunday
If you would like to be part of a caravan to the GTG, here's the plan:

Meet at the Park & Ride at the I5/La Costa Avenue offramp at 7:00a. We'll leave promptly at 7:30a and make our way to San Juan Capistrano for a coffee break and to meet up with Orange County and Temecula members at:

Starbucks
27211 Ortega Hwy
San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675-2703
949-661-5801

I anticipate we'll arrive in SJC at 8:15a and leave there no later than 9:15a for an arrival time in Huntington Beach between 10:30a and 11:00a.

See you there!

sounds good... Is the park & ride a safe place to leave one's car? would I have to leave my V1 and faceplate locked in the glovebox or what? Thanks for all the details, hope to see you then!

on second thought, in case you guys "caravan" like DTM guys (racing to get there) maybe I should bring the V1 for the lead car or whoever's giving me a ride from there.

Robert:
The Park & Ride is reasonably safe but it's always a good idea to keep valuable items out of plain view. Also, I'm pretty sure we'll be back before dark so I don't see any security issues.

As far as our travel speed...obviously, we'll stay within the boundary of the law!

LOL - it is kind of hard to speed through the border patrol check point at San Onofre, what with 4 lanes of red lights and stopped traffic!

Leise and I will try to make the long, difficult journey to the coffee shop (3/4 mile) by 8 or so. BTW, the long range forecast says 40% chance of showers on the 16th.

Count me in for the coffee shop. 8:15 is bit early but not bad.

I really do hope it doesn't rain, the Ortega won't be fun on a rainy day.

If it is raining will the GTG take place?

I think we got a covered area, so I don't think rain will stop us!

I don't expect to leave SJC before 9:15a so don't worry if you're running late

Brandon,

I'd definitely like to watch a city light install, I've beein waiting to do mine and just haven't got around to it. Are you bringing the tools and lights to complete the install?

BTW, it looks like I'll probably be at the Coffee Shop closer to 9AM so guys please wait up for us........wife wasn't very fond of waking up that early on a Sunday.

Park-n-Ride Security

Robert:

If you are going to be leaving your car at the Park-n-Ride, I'd suggest that you park in my complex instead. It's just around the corner and it's a gated community. About 6 months ago, a local TV station ran a story about how cars where being vandalized. Your call.

We should still meet at the Park-n-Ride, first.

This invitation goes to everyone who is not driving to HB.

I'll post this on the main thread, too, but noticed on the weather report this morning that rain is in the forecast for late in the afternoon on Saturday, raining all through Sunday.

We might have to move this thing up one day to Saturday or postpone to next weekend....
