NE Summer GTG Ideas...lets get started!

Hmm. Well advanced planning is always helpful.

I am thinking Saturday May the seventeenth, at a place of your choosing. If it is far away that is fine.

Triffin was discussing Watch Hill Rhode Island, but a place in Conn. would be good too.

Any ideas? Lets get this fire burning, and get around 20 MB's at the next GTG!

The 17th would be perfect for somewhere a little closer to New York. I really want to make this next one.

Talking summer gtg

....Hello Kyle,

You certaintly seem to have quite a bit of enthusiasm.
Ahhhh, the joys of youth!!!

Anyway, whatever the outcome, most likely, The Black Bomber and I shall attend.

Please be aware that SUMMER does NOT even occur until the later part of JUNE ....

It would be nice for twenty or even MORE of our old oilburners to attend....

See 'ya,

Spo out.

Yeah I agree with PEH, May would be better somewhere mid-May would be great. Early May is a no no for me, final exams always have priority.

But after that I could use a nice refreshing road trip to CT.
I say we do it in CT so more members from NJ and NY could attend as well. That way we can have a whole lot of diesels. If we do end up getting that many cars I say we go for a little 'cruise' with that many MB's

June is allright too but if it's hot that means I better make sure that my A/C works. Otherwise I'll be coming in a different car...

Bah

Suck it up Holson! Put the windows down, sunroof open, it's not too hot lol.

Maybe this sounds like a dumb idea but I'll give it a shot

How about a forest setting? Seems like lots of nice state forests in Conneticut. Or how about next to some historic looking buildings, to get some real good shots of our cars? The ocean was cool, but I think these two would be fun.

Bob ..

You should have stayed in Florida for a
few more days .. Snow here again .. this
winter just won't quit .. So much for
global warming :p

Re: May GTG

I could do Hammonasset SP again .. Exit 62

or if you NE folks feel like driving a bit
further west ..

Sherwood Island SP .. Exit 18

is very nice .. easy on/off from rte 95
and might encourage some participation
from NY/NJ/PA threaders etc ..

Kyle .. promise me this will be the "only"
official May NE GTG thread .. OK

Can't make any promises

I'll post on the SL Forum, the Mog Forum, the Vintage Forum, and every other mercedes forum on the internet lol.

20-23 people would be an awesome amount to get. I'll have to use mapquest.com and my friend Scott (who lived in Farmington CT) to help guide me there lol.

Anywhere is good, within 70 miles is good.

I'll be much more relaxed and I'll drag some friends along in Summer so I won't have to drive alone. Therefore I don't care if it's far

Hell.. last time I drove all the way to Hammonassett by myself. It was definitely enjoyable especially in a 20yr old Benz. That car always brings a huge smile after a long trip.

How about the Gillette Castle State Park? Really unique place, great grounds and if you want you can tour the Castle (after Memorial Day though). Refer to this site for information:

As long as there's a place to park all together, that sounds great. I suggested Riverside Park in Hartford last time(before the excellent Colt State Park was decided on). Right now the entire site is underwater but once the Connecticut river recedes, its a great spot. Lots of parking area, good spot for picnicking and picture taking, easy to find(right off of Rt. 91) and it's 1/10 of a mile from New Country Mercedes.

If you've got kids, there's a playground for them too.
playground for the kids

Nice idea 924!

I like the Gilette Castle idea as well! I visited the castle as a youth with my father, a really neat place. Riverside looks like an even nicer place though, and doesn't seem too far away from my house.
