Talking Any San Diego meets coming up?

I know that some of you have meets up in Beverly Hills sometimes, but I was wondering if there was anything coming up a bit closer than that. Los Angeles is way too far to drive my old car and I thought that if there weren't any meets scheduled that we may start one. Is anyone interested? Thanks.

-Kim :p

Hi Kim:

I just yesterday emailed Suginami that we still have plenty supplies for a GTG, maybe sometime in August, perhaps at a park near the beach in the San Juan Capistrano to Newport Beach area. Other options open as well, suggestions welcome. That close enough?

I could come to San Juan. It's just that my car isn't as reliable as most and it makes me a bit nervous to take her too far away. But she's been running great lately so south Orange County would be no problem.

We're Chewing On The Idea ...

Glen, Asfhin and I have been seriously talking about a GTG that would be held in the Southern Orange County / Northern San Diego County areas. We are considering a 3 day event that could attrack our brothers and sisters from the North (NorCal) as well as from the East (Arizona / Nevada).

Several events are being discussed ... Ortega Highway (SR74) and Palomar Mountain Road runs ... Show-N-Shine, BBQ (at the Beach - Dana Pt., Moonlight, or Torrey Pines, etc.) and a major GTG Photo Event. Oh, I almost forgot - Wine Tasting in the Temecula Wine District (possible BBQ venue as well). The Morro Bay GTG has inspired us greatly.

We have been discussing late summer ... ie late August / early September. Please comment ... please stay tuned.

I am definitely down for a meet. My old girl doesn't go on mountian runs. You guys would be pissed off when I get stuck on the side of the road or go 5 mph the whole way. Maybe I could ride with someone. I've always wanted to ride in an 500E especially after I raced one in my other car. So nice!

Stay tuned everyone, a few of us are planning a huge GTG for Columbus Day weekend! We're investigating lodging, dinner locations some canyon drives. Look for a post within the next few days!

Location will be Northern San Diego however our goal is to have members from Arizona, Nevada and the whole west coast! We may also do this in conjunction with MBCA.

Depending on the exact dates and enough notice, I can be there (travelling from Tucson to participate). I'll officially justify the "Zona" part of the name.

We are looking at the following dates:

Friday, October 10th
Saturday, October 11th
Sunday, October 12th

Keep in mind, Monday October 13th is Columbus Day ... a holiday for some. We selected this weekend to have a quasis 3 - 4 day GTG.

All: Please pencil in these dates ... more to follow VERY SOON (NLT Labor Day weekend).

Venues (place to crash, recharge, and just relax) being considered are two local Indian Casinos (Pechanga and Pala).

Kim ... The 'Committee', Glen, Afshin, Vince and I met this morning to formalize the event details. Well, it's still a go for the dates that are posted above. Tonight/tomorrow I will post more specific details, like the Saturday Rally Point / Drive, etc.

The drive will be from the Pala Casino (Hwy 76 / I-15) up to Mt. Palomar, than down to Julian / Ramona for lunch.

To all considering this drive:

Ensure that your car has adequate brakes, check all fluids/lubricatants and especially engine cooling.

Again, more to follow ...

That's really cool. If you guys want to do a mountain run, I can drive my benz up there to show you, but I'll have my boyfriend bring my "canyon-carving" car (1994 325is). There would be no possible way to take the 250SE up Palomar without it breaking. But I will bring it to show, just to prove that I actually own it. :p

Actually tomorrow morning about 6 of my bmw friends and I are going up Palomar. We will be leaving from the gas station off the 15/76 at 9am. We will be there at 8:30 though. If you guys wanna come, let me know. We 'try' and leave on time as much as we can. I would love to see some benz's tearing it up!

If you do end up coming, bring your radio's.
