Saturday, June 26.....National Concours Judging School
Take this rare and wonderful opportunity to learn from the BEST. Be a future Judge or just find out the "secrets" to have your car be a winner. Find out what the Judges look for. We are very fortunate to have Pete Lesler, National Secretary, Member of the National Concours Committee and Chief Concours Instructor coming to teach the course himself.
The Host Hotel is furnishing us with a spacious, comfortable conference room that will be set up classroom-style. There will be a mid-day break and lunch will be served. This is an intensive, comprehensive all-day school. The learning experience is invaluable. Attendance fee is $35 and includes lunch.
We have a lovely "pay your own way" special dinner planned in the evening for participants and their guests.

Sunday, June 27.....the First Annual "STAR CARS", a SE Regional Charity Concours d'Elegance for Mercedes-Benz automobiles of any year, brought to you by Southern Stars Section MBCA, the Jekyll Island Authority and Mercedes-Benz USA.
The recipient charity is Hospice of the Golden Isles and it will be donated in the name of the late founder of the Mercedes-Benz Club and fellow Southern Star, Dr. Milton Allen.
This show is open to ALL Mercedes owners.
You do NOT have to be a MBCA member to enter.
Mercedes from all over the Southeast will be converging on beautiful and historic Jekyll Island for this premier event.
Cars will be displayed all around the "Millionaire's Village" Historic Landmark District. Pete
Lesler will serve as Chief Judge.
Cars will be grouped into Judged or Display classes. Judged classes will be judged by Saturday's graduates and Display classes will be People's Choice. Cost for displaying a car is $35 for the first car and $25 for each additional car.
Cars in the Judged Classes will be judged on strict MBCA guidelines, including engine compartment and trunk but not chassis. Details of judging criteria are on the website. (see below).
We want this to be a FUN event for everyone. Car not quite perfect? Doesn't matter...come anyway and put your car in the Display rules; judged by the People. There will be lots of awards, including some "fun" prizes: highest mileage, traveled farthest etc. There will also be some sponsor awards.
This is a "bring the whole family" event. There will be competitions for all age children: MB pedal car and MB radio control car races with great prizes. There will be sponsor's demo booths, raffles, goody bags from various other sponsors, refreshment concessions and Mercedes dealer's displays and demos.
Cars can start arriving at 7:30 AM and judging will begin PROMPTLY at 9AM, with the AWARDS CEREMONY at 1PM, followed by a specially catered lunch for all participants and their guests in the Villa Mariana, the circa 1928 restored Mediterranean style mansion. Lunch will be antipasto salad (mixed greens, red onion, roasted vegetables, salami, provolone cheese, hard boiled egg, tomatoes and black olives), chicken breasts Alfredo over linguini, garlic bread, tea, coffee, homemade cookies and brownies. Cost for lunch is $15pp.
Spouse or significant other not a "car person"? There's so much to do on Jekyll Island. Here's just a sampling: horse-drawn carriage or motorized tram tours of the historic Landmark District, 63 holes of golf on 4 courses, Summer Waves Water Park, miles and miles of unspoiled beach, Jekyll Museum, dolphin cruises, special 4H programs for children ages 5-12, 20 miles of paved bike paths skirting the ocean as well as winding through the inner island's natural habitats, bike rentals galore, DNR guided sea turtle walks to view the nesting loggerhead turtles, horseback riding on the beach and through the maritime forests, tennis courts, mini golf, Tidelands Nature Center with aquarium exhibits featuring fish, turtles, alligators, and other animals native to coastal Georgia and touch tanks with hermit crabs, whelks, and other marine life and more, kayaking, canoeing, birding and coastal marsh tours.
I have discounted rooms with breakfast included blocked at the Quality Inn, Jekyll Island, directly across from the Ocean, (912) 635-2200. Ask for MBCA rates under Jackie Manson.
