Many entheusists will be at Starfest 2004 in Mansfield Ohio from July 31st to Aug. 4th. This is MBCA's premier National event and is only held every two years. Amoung other things I'll be in the Concours event as will others from New England and throughout the US and Canada.

However I will be in the Boston area two weeks later and would enjoy meeting everyone. Art

Hammonnassett would be nice because it is close to me! It is a big park, does anyone who knows it better know if their is a less busy lot to park in? Maybe a little recon this weekend?

i'm looking forward to the chowda you bring Trif...

ps: don't forget a lobsta roll for holson!

seriously i think that riverside park hartford or hammonasett are good locations for everyone. don't you think?

not that i mind RI (colt state park comes to mind..) but that would be a bit far for turbodiesel and others in the ny-nj area

when this thing is decided it will be time to ''hear ye hear ye, bang the drum'' on the events forum

whats the rundown on a GTG? We sit around for a few minutes and check out everyone's car?
Is this going to be for a short time or are we talking a day event?

Anybody have an Itineray or sometihng close to it? (sp.?)

BTW: I will want a ride in someone's 240D!

Hi Bob ..

I didn't mean to get into the fray ..

When Hammonnassett was first suggested a few
posters rightly pointed out that the place would
be packed on a Sunday in August since they have a
beach there .. others liked the idea of being on/near
the water .. so that's why I suggested Beavertail SP
in RI .. It has a rocky shore and no beach so hopefully
it wouldn't be as crowded as Hammonnassett .. Just threw
it out as an alternative since we've already been to the
other locations ..

Maybe someone from the forum that's close to Beavertail SP
can drive down there and check it's suitability between
now and then and report back ?? :p

Driving southbound on I-95 on a summer Sunday is gonna
be a 'bear' anyway and Hammonnassett is alot closer
for me than Beavertail SP would be .. I was just trying
to find a 'picturesque' location per Chris' request

Jim in Ct ..

I hate to burst the Beavertail bubble but... RI chock full of tourists for the summer. All you MA, CT, NY types slumming it for the warm months! Beavertail can get quite busy as its a nice place to walk, picnic and just waste time. Its hit or miss. If the weather is real nice it'll be packed. I don't care where we do it, but anywhere "scenic" read on the water will be busy this time of year. RT

Possibly somewhere in northern CT - open space away from crowds? I don'tknow the area but maybe someone here does. We'll probably look at each other's cars, so it doesn't need to have breathtaking scenery. And if we were to go for a drive we sure wouldn't want to do it on 95.

Any ideas for a place in Northern CT, Pete?

I can't recommend anything in CT since I really don't know it very well.

or we could get try Hamonassett, it'd be great if someone could check it out this sunday?

what if we try to get there earlier? wouldn't that work?

CT Post Mall in Milford has a huge lot, their would be plenty of room for 20 or so cars to park together on a Sunday. (Shoping for the wives! ) It is right off I-95 not the most scenic place but not terrible either. (Right down the street from me to.)

Their is a nice park in Milford, Eisinhower(sp?) Park, it should not be to packed on a weekend and is close enough to the water that we could go for a drive by it maybe. It is also close to down town Milford with it's shopping and resturants. I will do some recon this Sunday and see how busy it is.

I think meeting up at the mall or a (dont know what it's called but it's one of those places where you see a coffee shop, a pet shop, a supermarket, etc. in one big plaza) wouldn't be such a bad idea and we can then go for a drive to a nice scenic place and see how it is?
