I've been been enjoying the post in the tech forum for several months now (with great success). Although I constantly saw the banner for the parts shop, I never ventured in until now. The prices are absolutely fantabulous ... well below the "deep discount" prices I've been paying. OOPS.

Double oops!

Your comment really brings it home that we have done a very poor job of making people aware that we sell parts.

Since we first started this website in early 1999 our #1 priority has been giving Mercedes owners free technical support via our Shop Forum. As the cost to maintain the site continued to increase we decided to sell parts. Both as a service to our members and as a way to pay the bills.

We have steadily increased and improved our sources for parts. Now we are at the point where we can meet or beat about anyone out there on OE Quality Mercedes Parts. Somehow we've got to get the word out! Over the past few days we have been making some improvements to our site that may help. We have also re-registered with the major search engines.

If anyone has any ideas we are all ears.

Bill, I found this site by the following route. I joined several Mercedes groups that had one post every couple of days. I was so desperate to find a really active website like this one. The Eurocar message board has a post that recommended AutoExpedition.com.. I went there and looked up Mercedes: enthusiasts(nothing), clubs(nothing), parts(you were listed first and here I am).

That's interesting...I've never even heard of AutoExpedition.com. I looked at their forum. It must really be new because there are hardly any posts in it.

...let's see, if each Shop Forum Member told 2 of their Mercedes owning friends about MercedesShop and those people each told 2 of their friends...

Well, I went 2 better. There are 4 other Benz owners at the office, and I told all 4 of them about this site. I must admit I haven't followed up to see if they have joined/registered or if they just visit and learn. I will continue to reccomend this site to every Benz owner I meet.

This place is great, I learn something new almost everyday.

Thanks Mike!

We cannot buy advertising that is as good as a referral from a friend.

I just discovered the "product list" section at the top of the "shopping cart" page. I have never had a part number come back as a good number, therefore I was not aware that there was such a list. The list is very helpful but rather hard to find. It seems that the "shopping cart" should be the "parts lobby" or main page, or there should be a link to the product list. Just a thought. I would not go to the shopping cart unless I was ready to buy. Does any of this make sense?

I understand and agree.

We plan to do a MAJOR upgrade to PartsShop within a month or so.

One of the problems with the product list is determining with part is correct for your car based on the description. We have about 4,500 parts in our product list. The only real way to get the correct part is if you know the part number you need and search for that.

Our PartsShop upgrade will provide a simple way to find the parts you need. It will be similar to FastLane but will cover all parts for your car.

I am not sure why you have never had a part come back as a good number. With 4,500 part numbers in our database I would think you would have found something! Are you using the correct format when you enter the part number? (XXX XXX XX XX). You can also try just putting in the first 6 digits and get all part numbers that start with those digits.(XXX XXX)

Well, I lied a little...I put the numbers that your parts department emails me in and they always come back with the part. I think the problem is that my part numbers have usually been changed to a new number. Does the program update old numbers to current replacements? I like the idea of entering the first 6 numbers, that is very helpful. Thanks again Bill and others for a great site. I am really enjoying myself here.
