Cup Holder solution ! (?!?)
This was in one of the previous threads, but no one commented. IT LOOKS PERFECT for my 95 E320 Cab. If I get no replies, I will "guinea pig" it. price is unbelievable!

I have ordered
I have ordered and will report on the look and fit, before I install.
Anyone with knowledge of the bottom component of a 93 E320 center armrest (fiberboard?wood?foam? plastic?) please advise. THis unit mounts UNDER the armrest. Thanks

Part delivered
I received the cup holder and it looks so capable...if not perfect...that I am surprised I haven't seen mention of it before. I'll photo and post tomorrow and detail install as well.

Posting pix
OK. I have tried and tried to reduce image size in Photoshop to post pix here, but it seems too much trial-and-error...on reducing first image size and then quality. Can someone please give me a quick how-to or point me to a site that will tell me how. This is taking entirely too long for someone who is very computer savy. How do others do it? Thanks

Install Pix!!!
OK, here are the long awaited Install pix for the cupholder.
Upon completion and re-thinking, I might attach with screws thru the provided holes as it should feel more solid feel. That is if I can buy another armrest for less than the price of a new car:p I hope this answers those who were as curious as I was...enough to be the guinnea pig: http://homepage.mac.com/bankshyde/PhotoAlbum3.html

Looks good! I'm not so happy about having to sand the leather or screw through the armrest but I guess you have to screw the factory cupholders into the door panels anyways.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to order one for my wifes E320 wagon with MB Tex but I'm not quite sure if I want to install one in my 190E Limited Edition with Leather. Let us know how you like it in "real world" situations.

Does the kit come with screws? If you use screws, what would you be screwing into? I don't know what the armrest is made of. The website that makes the cupholder kit says that for proper use and installation, the UnderTray requires: A relatively flat, firm mounting surface at least 4" wide along a 10" length. At least 3" clearance underneath due to snap-down canholders. I'm not sure if I have 3" of clearance between where the cupholder mounts and that console / storage box underneath the armrest. Did you measure the distance, or have you tried putting a beverage or can in there? Also, what do they mean by "snap-down canholders"?

Don: I am not sure you have to sand the surface, but I did for grip. No screws come with the kit, but it feels like solid foam to me. 2. A relatively flat, firm mounting surface at least 4" wide along a 10" length. At least 3" clearance underneath due to snap-down canholders. Suginami: I measured and had no problems on my 95 E320 Cab. But I am tall and the seat is completely back and the backrest down a bit. But it works fine. 3. Also, what do they mean by "snap-down canholders"? Those are the WIRE supports. THey must be manually "snapped down".
