Question CL 600 - Should I?

I searched the site but could not seem to find any recent comments on the CL 600. I'm considering buying a 2000-2002 CL600. Originally I was shopping for a Ferrari 456M GTA and then I thought about a Maserati Cambiocorsa but I just couldn't justify the purchase price or the maintenance that seems to go along with either. Seems I could get a CL600 with 20-30k miles for around $60k and I would get a lot more bells and whistles. If any of you can help, I would appreciate your thoughts on picking up one of these. I'm looking for a day-to-day cruiser for good weather days and guaranteed safe parking (no door dings!!).

Is this the right car? Are there particular maintenance issues I should be aware of? At 30k miles am I looking at some immmediate repair concerns? What about the longevity? I take good care of my cars - can I get 150k out of a CL 600?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I have a 2002 CL 600 with 43k miles. It is a great car. The ride is smooth. It is the most luxuries sports car.

If you have the resources, get the 2003 or later version of the CL600, it comes with a new bi-turbo engine, which I heard is much more fun to drive.

I definitely believe this car can go for 150k, but I would seriously consider getting a extended warranty to about 100k from mercedes or a third party.

If you are willing to handle the maintenance costs of a V12, I would say you probably won't be disppointed. The twin turbo version has lots and lots of power. 740 ft-lbs of torque I believe.

There are a couple of race car drivers that own S600's as their own personal cars.
Can't think of their names, but I did see this mentioned on TV and/or car mags.

The CL, in any form, is one of the most beautiful cars of all time. But, the Italian cars are much more "alive" and involving. The CL is more isolated. And, I'm not so sure it will be that much cheaper to maintain in the long run. I'd drive them all before making that decision.
