Hello all, I'm not really sure which forum I ought to be posting this in, I apologize if this is in the wrong place:

My family is buying a MY2000 S500, I don't know the platform designation, it's the newest one though. Is there anything that we should look out for? Any TSBs or owner comments/complaints? Any information would be appreciated!

You got the right choice!!
I had mine for almost 6 months. It was perfect and never encountered any problems. The ride is smooth, the handling is good, the engine is powerful and sound very nice . The design is sporty but luxury. The only complain I have is only the gas mileage, although it is my fault. I put a pair of double pipe carlsson exhaust and 19' rims. The best mileage I can get is around 300 mostly. When it was standard, I think I got more than 300.
So, still it is your choice...

PS: The trunk space is not really big.

Thanks! So I'm assuming that you've since gotten rid of it? If so, how come? Trunk space is not really an issue, but have there been an TSBs issued by MB? Or does anyone have complaints about the car's quality, expectations that weren't met, etc.?

As with any car you should take it to the local dealer and have them check the car out for any possible defects etc. I have heard that the 2000 MY S classes have had quite a few quality problems, as is the case with a new series. The newer S-Class's are better though.

We've apparently taken delivery of the car... It had been taken to the local authorized service center and apparently everything was fine, but every other time we've had to deal with them it seems that they have barely any clue as to what they are doing, so who knows. I also actually think it might be an early model '01...
