E400 Cdi

Goodentac,

Writing from Munich,
I spent the this past week traveling around Bavaria in a brand new E400 CDI, this car is amazing. I reserved a E320CDI in Frankfurt, when I arrived there were no more 320CDIs the agent offered a brand new E400CDI with 400klm on the clock. Equipped with the new 7 spd trans, sports package, air suspension, active sport seats, heated and ventilated, pano roof and gps nav. Well compared to my E320cdi there is no comparison. The car is scarry fast, I would estimate 0*60 in the mid 5s. I managed to get a speeding ticket in Ruuete, Austria 220klm in a 120 zone. Police very friendly, can pay the fine with a credit card on the spot, 275 euros, ouch. Good thing I was slowing down from 260klm. The car runs seemlessly at 150 mph, although the fuel millage suffers at 21mpg, and at 1.05 euros per liter motoring at that speed is expensive. Cruising is very relaxing at any speed, but the acceleration at any speed is flatten your eyeball fast. 70mph to 140mph seems to happen in an instant. The new command gps is great, very user friendly, has link to German traffic system can re-route around traffic jams, accidents etc in real time. Off to the bier garden, car is parked for the night, if it comes our way save your money and get one. Everything you know and expect from a diesel is wrong, driving this car. Cheers

You lucky *******. I hope MBUSA imports these and the S400 into the US in the near future so I can afford to buy a used one 5 years after it is on the market. I think the e400 is a little overkill but an S400 in the US would be awesome! Now a 400 CDI coupe in the the E class style body would be a hot rod or maybe an E40 CDI AMG. I doubt you will see it though.

If the tax credit on diesel happens this may change. Better yet make these vehicles 100% depreciable on the first tax year when bought for a business. Other than high gas prices the other major factor slowing SUV sales down is that the depreciation laws changed. Also you might see diesel medium pickups and SUVs return other than a jeep liberty!

220klm in the 120? thats about 130mph in the 70, right? 275 euros sounds like a pretty good deal to me, in the US you'd probably have to spend the night in jail! sounds like a pretty sweet ride and id definately like to drive one, but i wonder if it will still be running in 20 years.

If MB brought an E400 or the S400 into this country I would buy one. I would probably try to get one that is a few years old though, I'll let the first guy take the big hit.

Then after I ran a 100k or so on it to properly break the engine in I would give the tuners a call.

I am sure Brabus, Renntech, or AMG can get some big power out of these!

I didn't even know DC was putting that engine in the 211 chassis. What does it have, something like 500lb-ft of torque? Mash the throttle, the car stands still and the earth spins...

Over here if you're caught doing more than 20mph over the speed limit you'll just get dragged to jail. I didn't know this before and I was caught doing 100mph at 3:20am in a 55mph speed limit zone. The policeman's first words were, something like "looks like you'll spend the rest of the night in jail." I asked him why and he explained the reason to me. I told him that I honestly wasn't aware of that aspect of the law. He checked my records saw they were clean and I was just 19 so he told me to not mess up my life with such stupid acts. He let me go without even a ticket!! Thank God for his kindness!!

I would sell my first born....

and maybe my second born son, too, in order to buy a S400 CDI here in the states. I would love to buy this car....

An E400 sounds like a rocket ship.
