What's gas cost there?

What's gas cost there, AF330E? I just don't get the feeling the additional fuel cost plus maintenance cost/complexity is worthwhile on the V12's. It seems like you hit the point of diminishing returns once you pass the 500's in most cases.

93 octane is about $3.30-$3.50 along the CT coastline. Maybe a bit more I don't know I havn't bought gas in a long time.

Fuel Prices

Premium unleaded (98RON) costs around the AU$1.50 which would make it about US$5.11 per gallon.
I don't know if this is how it works in the States, but here, our darling gas companies do the following.

Payday in Australia is generally on a Wednesday or Thursday whether it be social security type payments (old age pensions, disability pensions, out of work pensions) or proper employment payments. Hence,
Tuesday is the cheapest day to buy petrol followed by Monday.
Wednesday through to Sunday are the dearest, coinciding with the paydays and the weekend.

The problem here is, that the fuel companies are claiming barrell prices to be the reason for price fluctuation. Why is it then, that the fluctuations, of around 10 cents I might add, are cyclic???

CROOKS!!!!

And here, we also have the "I have no idea about anything and cannot see 2 inches beyond my nose because my head is jammed fair up my a$$, but high fuel prices are ***** and because the current federal government is not the one I voted for they must be the reason for it!!" brigade.
These twats are campaigning for the gonvernment to reduce it's tax take on fuel without taking the half a second to realise that the moment the government does so, the gas companies will cry "Barrel Price!!" and take up the tax reduction as an increase in their margin. Further to this, the same people are also (in a lot of cases) the ones who are lower working class, smoke heavily, drink heavily, are on some sort of government benefit (single parent, unemployed etc) have their hair dyed cheap dirty tramp blonde, MUST drive a V8, eat nothing but fast food (and complain about the cost of food) and gamble.

How's that for a rant!!!

Way off topic but whatever this thread is pretty dead.

Fuel prices at least in the US are driven lately in large part by investors and speculators. Anyone can run out and buy oil, so by the time it hits the pump it may have been through several people. If each person makes a dime per gallon times say 6 sellers in the chain... Plus since we are in a free market economy they will charge what the market will bear, and in the US we can afford fuel at these prices anyway.

What is the tax situation in your country? I know in Europe part of the reason its so much is the tax is several dollars a gallon.

I actualy know someone who does this and does pretty well at it, he will buy 30,000 gallons of crude, gas whatever in a day.

Hat, the last time I gassed up in your state, I was blown away by the price (this was probably 7-8 years ago). Somebody told me that this was due to very high gasoline tax in CT. It sounds like that's no longer the case. The price you just mentioned sounds in line with VA gas prices.

Has CT taxed diesel heavily, too, or just gas? Or have they cut those taxes altogether in response to the huge jumps over the last few years?

Not sure exactly what it is in CT. Diesel was 3.05, reg 3.11 and prem 3.33 today. I know as you drive south it gets cheaper starting with NJ. Well at least it was when I drove to FL a few years ago.

Must be tax related. New England is tough in that regard.

Tax here is 35c per litre plus 10% of the pump price.
