Folks,
I need a large boot/trunk for the growing family and am considering a W124 or W210 estate/wagon. My other options for getting enough luggage space for strollers, luggage and dog is a minivan and that sounds all too depressing to mention... I wonder if any of you who has a wagon version of the W124 chassis could rake out your manual or tape measure and tell me what the dimensions of the boot/trunk are. I am particularly interested in the length of the boot. The stroller we have is about 115-120cm (45 - 47") long and the W210 is the only trunk it will fit into lengthwise. We could only afford a four cylinder (E200 or E230) W210 which sounds somewhat sloooooow, so a larger engined W124 or diesel is probably a better bet. What do you think? TIA |

48" X 44" is about the dimension of the W124 TE Boot. some minor encroachment by a wheel well.
I have 3 kids, and refer to my TE as the "Anti-minivan". My car didn't come with the third seat, but I retrofitted it with the OE setup. What a Godsend. When my 4 & 7 year old daughters are back there, you can barely hear them! And it can carry LOTS of stuff. And if it needs to carry more, remember it's a Mercedes; it can carry 200+ lbs. on the roof. I have a big 'ole Thule box, and can carry 14 cubic feet of flotsam as well as 3-4 bikes. The car's very versatile. Good luck!

Sounds promising
Thanks Michael for your reply. It sounds as though the stroller will just about fit in which would be good news. I very much appreciated your comments re the rear-facing seats and your daughters, LOL!! I think I will be able to relate in a few years time. Our 2nd is due in a couple of months.
I'll post a separate thread asking about different engines. Thanks again. |

Hi there - where did you get the OE stuff from for that retrofit 7 seat conversion? I have been hunting - and getting very expensive quotes from MB ($3k!) thanks in advance >Joe

I bought almost everything piecemeal from the dealer, excepting the seat belts which I got out of my brother-in-law's car...he never uses his 3rd seat, but in that his interior is Palomino I couldn't use anything else.
I think all told I spent around $1,000. Let me know if I can help.
