I am unable to see the pictures, because the server at work blocks certain domains. I'll post the bigger ones as well, just in case those were too small.

Well Oliver, The grille does look good. I was admiring when I was resizing them for the small ones.

Now what did you use, and where do we get it?

OF course a new center cap for my left rear wheel is highly needed. Just lost one today. Ugh.

It was all Mervyn's idea. I sprayed the old grille a matte black, and simply attached the extra chrome with small cable ties. It was really easy and really cheap, but the results really improve the overall look of the car.
Again, it's all thanks to Mervyn!

Hi Oliver, I'm glad that you liked the new grille and even had them posted here for everyone's benefit. Earlier, I'd wanted to post mine too but to create my own webpage on homestead.com seems rather remote as my laptop keeps getting error codes during the process. Well, now it seems like you've done it on my behalf.

So lets see, what's next? Pics of our due-to-be-lowered W126s?

This is getting fun!

Mervyn

Looks nice. Another way to attach the aluminum strips is detailed at Avangarde Grille for w124 .

JCE - the site you referred to may not be applicable to the W126.

I looked at some chrome strips this morning and it costs about RM6-00 (USD1-60) each.

Oliver - where do you attach the cable ties, and would the cable ties be visible?

JCE,
Are the cable ties visible? How exactly did you fasten them?

CJ:
I think Oliverp attached his with the cable ties. I just pressed the strips over the plastic on each horizontal part of the eggcrate grill. They were a snug fit - didn't feel like they would fall off, but I wasn't wild about all the chrome. I wanted a nice contrast to the smoke silver paint and Euro lights, so I took off the extra strips and had the grill painted matte black instead.

JVE - you just stuck the strips onto the plastic grille? I tried that but didnt make me feel very secure thinking it was easy to fall off at high speeds, or worse, at traffic lights. Don't wanna have puclib impression that the 300SE is falling to bits.

Does the Oliver's method reveal the cable knots?

YMSin:
Yes - but it took very firm pressure one cm at a time on each strip to get them on, and nearly ruined them getting them off again. I may try doing the old grill with the paint and strips again, but on every other horizontal bar, which would give 6 horizontal strips instead of 3.
