I recently had installed an alpine 8063 with mobile mayday. It is very expensive $1400. But it will monitor your car like ADT. It also has a car jack button and an ongard help system. "The Ultimate Protection" If your alarm goes off they call you. It has a GPS so if your car is moved with engine off they call. If you car is hot wired they can call the car or listen in and coordinate with police to catch theives. The can turn car off or open door remotely. You can also put a perimeter around your car 10 feet to 60 miles. If your car leaves the area they will call car for password and disable the car if stolen. It lets me sleep at night!!

Alddave,
Where did you have the system installed? And how long do you have to leave your car with them. I am very interested. Thanks.

I had BrynMawr in Glen Burnie install the Mobile Mayday. It took one and a half days to install and it functions perfectly!! Sorry about the delay. P.S. Make them charge you for their catalog price. This way it costs almost $700 less then the other Alpine installers in the area!! Two other stores quoted 2400 - 2700.

Sometimes a cheap solution can be as effective as an expensive one.

One solution I've come across for preventing hot-wiring is a simple battery disconnect switch. Some people wire a switch under the dash, but I picked up a neat gadget that attaches to the battery terminal post. I simply unscrew a knob, put it in my pocket, and walk away. It has a low-amp bypass to allow clocks and other gadgets to keep working, but try to start the car and a fuse blows in the device. The car cannot be started until the fuse is replaced at the battery. $20 at Precision Auto Designs.
