I looked at a 90 300SEL(6 cylinder)on Ebay. Looks wonderful. I would be interested to hear opinions on these cars with regards to faults and gas mileage. Thanks.

300sel
Well consider me a BIG fan. I bought a beautiful '90 300 sel a year ago with 40k miles on it. This car works and rides exquisitely. Very good gas mileage 20-23mpg burning around town and probably 26-28 on the hwy, only downfall is you have to burn the best fuel you can find. The 3.0 litre is a rock strong inline 6 cyl. Some say the best 6 ever built. Lots of power if you stomp on it, very smooth and quite. (cannot here mine run) You have all the benefits of the big 8's without the costs. I would recommend this car above all the rest. Can't think of any inherent problems of the W126 besides the fact that it rides great and looks fabulous in the driveway!
