I was toying around with my topless 300SL today and I saw this C class sportcoupe standing on the pavement near a MB shop...I thought some of you might be interested in the pictures. The car was silver and had the glass roof...I think the car looks pretty good...
The car was a simple C180.

Please note the SL in the back of the pictures; the car (or its owner) was enjoying its first topless drive of the year!
The temperature went up from 10 to 21 degrees Celsius and the first 100 topless kilometer were great again.

greetingz,

akry,

Did you check that C-Class Sport Coupe out at the Vancouver Auto Show? My friend sent me some pix of it, as well as some other pix from the Auto Show too...

At first I thought that the rear of the car would be out of place (or as you call it: HIDEOUS) as well, but after seeing two of these vehicles in real life I can say that I am starting to like that model...I definitely like the front of the car!

Steve,
Yes, I agree, the front looks really nice. But the back... yes, maybe I will have to see it in person to get a really good look. But I really hate hatchbacks in general (it's a hatchback, who are they kidding!?).

And I heard that those hatchbacks are coming with Cloth seats. What the hell is Mercedes doing? Don't they have a certain status they must live up to!?

David, most of the MB models in the Netherlands have cloth seats; it is very common for the cheaper Benz models here!
Having a small sized Benz with leather interior is rather rare here!

Akry, I am just filling my time...

Steve,
Yeah, I know that. But in the US, we never get cloth seats (ML did I think), and they are just plain tacky. I know they are all over outside of the us US.

From what I'm reading in Automobile Mag, the new C-class Sports Coupe target demographic is "mostly new-to-the-brand single females in their mid-thirties".
That would be the reason it is trying to be "hip, flashy, and affordable".
The only engine available will be the 2.3 liter Kompressor, and it will come to the US this summer.
Hopefully, it will at least have MB-Tex interior!

Ryan

Here are some pictures of the third C class sportcoupe I saw in the wild (earlier today). The set-up of the car is the same as of the car I posted before: silver with black cloth interior and a lack of switches inside the car.
This sportcoupe was wearing some nice 17" rims with 225/45-17 tires. Personally I think it suits the car very well!

The pictures were taken while I was facing the sun (the car at the other side of the Benz was parked to close), so the picture is a bit to dull...

We get the sportcoupe with a 180 (200), 200 (kompressor, 230 (kompressor) and 220CDI engine.

greetingz,

I have been trying the driver seat and -position in a C220CDI sportcoupe last saturday. I actually like the seat and cars interior. I don't like the 3-spoke steering wheel though (it looks kind of fake).
The overview of the car is pretty good and I am really starting to like the model. The only downside to the car is that it costs as much as the normal C class sedan. So if I were to get me a new C class, it would definitely be the sedan...

greetingz,
