Hi, all. I'm looking at buying a '94 E320 Wagon in West Los Angeles. I need to find a reputable mechanic to perform a prepurchase inspection. I've searched the archives and the "Good Shops" board and haven't found any recommended shops in the Santa Monica/Beverly Hills area.

Can anyone help?

Also, does anyone have any helpful advice on the above type of car with 115k miles (nearly complete dealer service history, meticulous owner)?

Frank, I would take the wagon to a dealer b/h mb or south bay mb for a complete prepurchase inspection ask for a senior tech if possible, check the compression,leakdown test,mic the brake rotors inspect the headgaskit,front cover, test the a/c for leaks?inspect the radiator esp the top tank,and the other items on a prepurchase inspection also ask the service advisor to run a mb net, the net will tell you all the dealer services and warranty repairs from day one to the last visit hope this will help


then find a good independent shop e mail ashman
a good wagon is very hard to find
