1992 MB 300E 4-Matic known faults?
I am looking at buying a 1992 MB 300E 4-Matic with 150K miles and looks to be in very good condition. How is the 4-Matic of that generation? Was it problematic or reliable? Does this W124 suffer the same ills with the evaporator, wire harness and the head gasket as the 94 and 95 E320? Alos looking at a 89 300CE. Does that year W124 suffer that same ills? The A/C fan was blowing soft, I couldn't get it to turn up to full. Is that the sign of the evaporator going? Thanks.

The 4-Matic AWD system used in W124's is problematic. It will always give you trouble.
M103 engines do not have wiring harness issues. Head gaskets can leak oil at any time. Just look around the head for oil leaks. Evap leaks are the exception, not the rule, with these cars.

Thanks, I will stay away although the car looks fabulous appearance wise. I'm not looking for trouble, thanks, Paul.
