One of the goals of the Mercedes-Benz safety research is to be able to recognize and defuse dangerous situations. We present two assistance systems of the future. Electronic display and warning concepts such as the traffic light assistance system react to the driver’s inattention. For example a modified S-Class research vehicle warns the driver and brakes autonomously in an emergency. Before the innovations go into series production they require precise development work using the driving simulator and field tests.
