Update - New E Class


- Premiere of W211 on the Bruxelles Car Show, January 15th 2002
- Market introduction of sedan: Mid-March 2002
- E 200 CDI four-cylinder with 122 hp available from October 2002
- E 220 CDI four-cylinder with 150 hp available from the beginning
- E 270 CDI five-cylinder with 177 hp available from the beginning
- E 320 CDI inline-six with 204 hp available from the beginning
- E 400 CDI V8 with 260 hp
- E 500 with 306 hp substitutes E 430 with 279 hp
- E 55 AMG with more than 400 hp
- Choice of transmissions: 6-speed manual, five-speed automatic, sequentronic
- Price of base model E 200 only rising by DM 1.000 (= ca. 500 €)
- Market introduction of T-models: Spring 2003
- Market introduction of 4MATIC-models: Spring 2003
- Sedans body length rising 2 mm to 4820 mm
- Wheelbase lengthened by 22 mm to 2857 mm
- Passenger headroom enhanced by 20 mm
- Front overhang shortened
- Rear overhang remains the same
- Track widened by 30 mm
- Standard tyre size 215/66 on 16 inch rims
- Avantgarde version and V8 with 17 inch rims
- New seats with enhanced side support
- Trunk 520 litres according to DIN-measurement method
- Rear seat backs fold down asymetrically also with the sedans
- Stiffer body with more welding points
- Partly filled hollow spaces for rust protection and sound insulation
- Kerb weight 15 kg higher
- Fuel tank capacity of sedan rising by 5 litres to 70 litres
- New sequentronic transmission as an option
- All CDI-turbodiesels with second-generation common-rail injection
- All CDI-turbodiesels with roughly 7 DIN-hp more
- All models come with electro-hydraulic brake SBC as standard
- Air suspension standard with eight-cylinder models
- Air suspension option on all other models
- Improved COMAND system (available from autumn 2002) as an option
- Until autumn 2002 only APS 50 unit with smaller screen but with email etc.
- Improved COMAND with enhanced operation and faster
- Supplier of COMAND system Becker instead of Blaupunkt
- keyless-go as an option
- Driver oriented dashboard
- Higher quality feel
- ABC NOT available
