'86 & up 300E - What years had 5-speed
 

I plan to put my '86 300E 5-speed up for sale in a few months and wanted to know which years the 5-speed was available in the USA? Any idea how may were sold with the 5-speed? Was the 5-speed available in the 300D?

86 and 88 were the years that the 5 speed was available. The 86 is rare, but the 88 is much more rare. In 88 it is beleived about 350 were made (I have one:) )

You can search to find the US numbers. I believe there were almost 1,000 in '86 and about 350 in '88.

The rarity of the 5 speed 300E does not automatically guarantee more money for you when selling the car. If you can find the right person, you might be able to demand a premium price. You will probably not find an enthusiast by advertising in the local paper.

I have had several emails over the last few years asking if I want to sell my 5 speed. Advertise the car in the Swap and Shop section of mshop and you might get a taker. Let us know how it all comes out.
