Lightbulb Mercedes M-Class teases upcoming facelift, new interior

Filed under: Spy Photos, Crossover, Mercedes-Benz, Luxury

Following our first drive of the Mercedes-Benz M-Class a couple of years ago, not much has changed in the land of Merc's midsize, two-row crossover. Sure, the high-performance ML63 AMG version followed the standard models, and reports of a BMW X6-fighting, coupe-like variant have surfaced, but aside from that, things have largely been quiet on the M-Class front.

Now, however, we have our first look at the refreshed luxury 'ute, due to arrive later this year as a 2015 model. As you can see in the photos, the M-Class is getting a heavily revised front fascia, likely incorporating the bolder front end design that we've seen on recent products like the C-, E- and S-Class, among others. Not too much seems to be changed 'round back, but we'd expect at least a slight taillamp nip/tuck before the new model hits the streets.

There's more newness inside, where we can clearly see Merc's redesigned center stack, complete with a larger - yet somehow less-nicely integrated - COMAND screen. There's a new steering wheel and new gauges, too. Typical mid-cycle refresh stuff, all around.

Our spies suggest some powertrain changes could be on tap, including a possible plug-in hybrid variant. That said, we won't rule out the normal gasoline and diesel offerings here in the States, in their usual V6 and V8 guises.

We'll know more when the refreshed M-Class sheds its camouflage later this year.Mercedes M-Class teases upcoming facelift, new interior originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 04 Apr 2014 15:45:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.
