A sad day for me and my 126
I hate to report this but my 1984 500sel was totalled a week and a half ago by a lady driving a Honda CRV. Everyone was fine but both our cars were totalled (mine due to $8900 cost of fixing front end damage and mild rear damage, hers due to the front frame being bent 5-8 inches). I am very happy with the way my Benz helped me through the accident and the way it stood up but I am sad that it costs so much to fix and insurance wont pay that much. Well I have settled with them and will be picking up a smoke silver 1989 300e tomorrow evening. I have already planned on buying Euro headlights, smoked (not clear) front indicators and smokes read lenses (instead of clear/amber). I will also be trying my 16x7.5 chrome 8 hole rims that I salvaged from the 500sel but am not sure how they will look on the 300e since there is not as much chrome on w124s as there is on w126s. I think there might be a small problem with the exhaust cause sometimes it sounds a little like a rice rocket exhaust. I will have someone look at it to see whats wrong but all in all I got a great deal and hope to make it really nice. I have the stereo from my 500sel (Blaupunkt Tokyo head, matches dah lighting perfectly, and 10" pyramid royal red 1000 watt sub with 800 watt pyramid amp in bandpass enclosure for trunk. I just have to put that in and I will be on my way. If anyone has any suggestions or questions please feel free to ask. I will post before and after pictures once I get the car and once I finish all my mods.
Thanks.

brockley,
Sorry to hear about your SEL, I know it's tough losing a car that means something to you. Hope your new 124 purchase goes smoothly and you enjoy making your mods to it. You mentioned you would be puting smoked front corner lenses on the car and I really want to see what they look. If you would please post a picture of your car after you installed the corners I would really appreciate it. By the way in case your wondering what the 8 hole rims look like on a W124 take a look at the Hot Rods Forum and search for "For Souther California Members". You'll find a pic of my car which has the stock 8 hole rims in chrome. This should give you an idea of what it looks like. These wheels are 16 x 8.

Yeah sorry to hear that. A kid in his Ford Explorer almost totaled my 300CD today. If he did I don't know what I'd be doing right now.
on the wheels, Just make sure that the wheels will fit the W124. If I'm not wrong, the W124 uses high offset wheels (ET40+) and the W126 uses low offset wheels (ET25) I could be wrong though. Anyway, 8 hole wheels look great on the W124. I had them before I replaced them with the 7-spoke wheels from the new W220 s-class.

Yep sadly my 500SEL has died yet again. There's a thread I made about the tranny but basically I have to get a new one.
Good luck with the new car.
