S-class Station Wagon (W140T), pic 1 and history
This is the "S-T-model", a conversion carried out by Cadform of Germany from early 1995 to late 1998 and sold through the Mercedes-Benz dealer network (under special order) -except the U.S.-.
You could order any W140 sedan (S280, S320, S420, S500 and even the S600) and pay the extra US$80,000.00 it costed to convert it to a T-model. The 80 grand offered you (besides the exclusivity of owning a rare S-class T-model) an electric rear foldable seat (a la Ford Expedition third-row seat style) and all the features of the S124 (W124T) wagon: recessed rear hinges and shock, safety fuel tank, etc. Sorry about the quality of the pics, but the hardcover catalog was difficult to fit on the scanner. $80k??? Now that's a lot of money for a wagon and I think that it ruins the lines.
