About to purchase a Starmark Preowned e430 what to look out for?
Hi,
I am looking into buying an 1998 e430 from the Starmark program. Can someone give me any info on what to look out for for the specific model? Also any experiences with the Starmark program? thanks |

I have two Starmark vehicles:
'94 E320 Coupe (Starmark expired now) '94 E500 >Good experiences w/ Starmark- suggest puchasing the extended Starmark as far out as you can. I believe that the '98 E430 is a solid machine w/ little if any weak points. -fad |

Starmark
You'll probably have a few "CHECK ENGINE" lights in the next few years due to O2 sensors, air flow sensors, purge valves, etc. No big deal even if you're out of warranty. Stop-lamp switches go bad occasionally, causing ASR/ABS lights, but again, no big deal. Lower control arm bushings seem to go bad every 50K or so, but that's the price you pay for a good handling car that still rides nice. Don't spill anything in the area of the shifter. The recognition switch will be damaged causing the transmission to enter "limp" mode. Also, if you do your own service, make sure you replace the dust filters(located behind the glove box,NOT the activated charcoal filters). If these filters impede air flow, the blower motor regulator runs hot, shortening its service life. If the car you're buying has 17" wheels, inspect them carefully on the inside bead to make sure they"re not bent. For some reason I see a lot of bent 17"s but no one ever remembers hitting anything. I know this sounds like a lot but it's no big deal. The 210 was a good car from the first year to the last so enjoy it! Good luck
