Question High idle on my M103

I've got a head scratcher on the fuel injection side of my 'new' 300SE. It's a 1991 with 170K miles and appears to be very well kept as it runs good and everything appears to be genuine MB.
When I start the vehicle, either cold or warm, the idle immeditely jumps to about 1K and stays there. If i hit the gas pedal, it just revs a little higher and settles back to 1KRPM. The car does start easily with just a few cranks.
If I pull the electrical connection from the front of the Idle valve the RPM drops immediately down to normal..sounds really nice. If I plug it back on, sometimes it jumps back up but most of the time the RPM stays at normal. If I shut the engine off and restart, the RPM jumps up to 1K again. It's very repeatable.
Also, the EHA valve on the back of the fuel distributor weeps a little. I've changed the green O-rings and checked for cracks and all appears OK but after running a few minutes you can see it getting a little wet from fuel. Don't think this has anything to do with the idle problem, but I'm not exactly sure.
ANy help would be appreciated...Thanks for the help.
