Aftermarket Warranty- any experiences out there in GA?
I am considering the purchase of a 400e and am VERY inclined to include an aftermarket warranty to the car due to the fact that the price of a transmission rebuild is about the same amount of money! And that's just ONE good reason!! Anyone have any experiences on their aftermarket/ extended warranty they would like to share? Any pitfalls that I need to be aware of? Any and all info is appreciated, because this kind of stuff makes the difference in the car being a pleasant experience or a friggin nightmare. Thanks in advance.

Aftermarket Warranty
Not sure if they sell in GA, but I bought a Warranty for my W140 from Warranty Wizard in Cleveland, Ohio. I am in Arizona. You can check out their website at www.warrantywizard.com . I got a twenty four month/24,000Mi. for just over $1000.

Hello Trav,
I had a good experience with an aftermarket warranty from a company called Smartchoice on my Passat. They covered everything on the car including transmission, timing chains basically everything on a car. There's a $50-$100 deductible. I don't think they cover cars with more than 100k miles--I'm not sure if this applies to you, but you can try them and see. The number is 18003348358

Extended Warranty
My W140 had 103,000 Mi. on it and they covered it to 127,000 with no deductable.

I bought a 100k warranty for my wife's Discovery for about $1500 from warrantydirect.com. They let you go anywhere you want for the repair and they pay the shop directly through their credit card so you don't have to pay first and submit for reimbursement. It's saved me a ton of $. I also have a 400E. I didn't get a warranty on that. The repairs have been minimal. I bought the car with 42k miles about a year and a half ago. I put brakes on it $350, and did the major service $600 (neither would be covered anyway) and that's it. The car is bullet proof. I wouldn't worry too much about the 400e.

GE Warranty
my customer's all favor the General Electric warranties.....they are the most popular, make sure your servicing dealer honors it though
