The Front Fenders of a 210... Aluminum?

Was wondering, are the front fenders of a 210 made of Aluminum? I know the hood is, just curious.

My curiosity is piqued! From memory, they don't sound it. I'll let you know for sure at six when the wife brings mine home (hey, that sounds kinda funny). Brings home my CAR that is.

A magnet sticks to both the hood and fenders on my 97. I don't think they used aluminum until the current W211.

Aluminum is not magnetic and neither is , lead, fibreglass, Bondo or other body fillers.

This is a useful fact to know when buying a car that might have been bondoed or repainted.

Question

I don't think the hood is aluminum. I haven't gone out to test this fact but it sees too heavy for its size to be aluminum.

Has anyone been able to check this yet?
