Pictures of cars

Members picture gallery...sorted by year, model, so that we can get ideas on how to improve the look on our cars. Then in that case, we can directly ask the owner how they did it, or where they had those modifications made.

definately pictures

Yes,
There should be a link on the site with pictures of member's cars. There is already a post: let all post a pic or our benz... or something like that..... with over 30 pages of members cars, maybe those picture's can be transferred or something.

I couldnt agree more! Alot of auto forums have a member gallery for their cars...
It would be helpful as mentioned above in seeing modifications people have done etc.. I have been looking for mudflap for my w123, and came across a post one day by a member selling a set of wheels from his 300td.. and in the pic he posted of his car with the wheels I noticed that he had a set of mercedes mud flaps installed on the car... had I not seen his post w/picture I wouldnt have known to ask him where he found his mud flaps etc etc etc

So I think it would be encredibly beneficial to have a gallery for members cars!

great suggestion!!

Sorry for long post but very worth reading, IMHO!:

I will sixth that, it would be very nice to have a members cars section. However it needn't be all pictures, and could be no pictures at all. Check pistonheads, a British car forum I spend a bit of time on they have one that works quite well:

http://www.pistonheads.com/members/fleet.asp

You may have to be a member so i've attached screenshots - well worth looking at.

- There is a drop down box to choose the model of car you want to look at, or you can browse all cars by recently added, most history added by user etc.

- You can add work done to the car & the costs, and see how much you spend in repairs each year etc. (£840 for this W140 owner - not too bad, but £1000 on fuel is SCARY!).

Very useful for people posting 'should I buy', 'how much does it cost to run X' type questions, and also useful to remember what you've done to you car (I tend to forget!). You could even makes notes on how you did it, so no forgetting and no need to keep telling people!

And fun just to browse through, say, an SL500's history and realise we can't afford to run one! Or to browse other cars the same as yours and see who else has had the same problems, or what MPG they get.

Russ

Maybe we should just start with something more simple eh?

What if I created a section of the Shop Forum just for pics of member's cars?
Would that work?

Might work yes (and we realise you don't get paid for this so our requests can't all go fulfilled!).. something like "Show off your car"? What do other members think? And it would make things easier than searching through the "lets all post a pic of our cars" post.

It would however still lack the (rather cool) ability to click "view this member's profile" and be taken to their profile showing their cars too, and their entered descripton/pictures/history..

Basically like the above mentioned site, but that's using something other than the board software we have here.. I think the guy writes it himself in fact.

Whatever you can do for us will be fine, man!

Talking Member Car pics

This is not a complete solution BUT, it is something thats kinda cool.
We DO have the ability for each member to have ONE profile picture.
For example, click on my name in the upper left corner of this post. Select View Public Profile. You'll see a picture of my CLK55K.

Everyone can do that. We could see what other members drive.
The picture can be no larger than 640x480 or 75,000 bytes...whichever is larger. I just increased the size to that level.

Here's how to do it:
1) Click "User CP"
2) Click Edit Profile Picture
3) Click the browse button to find your picture on your hard drive
4) Upload it

Bill,

After looking at your car picture I thought to myself that it looked an awful lot like a particular CLK55 I had seen before. Even had my hands in the engine with Donnie while some mods were being done to accept a Kleeman. Then I read the profile
